Jill Emery might be the “Energizer bunny” of Michigan’s Adventure. Spend a few minutes with any of her colleagues and one of the first things they talk about is the boundless energy and enthusiasm she brings to her job as manager of admissions and guest experience. “She really inspires happiness,” says Camille Jourden-Mark, park vice president and general manager. “Jill makes whoever she is working with feel like there is no one more important than they are at that moment. Havoc could be breaking out and Jill is right in the middle of it to assure guests that it’s going to be the best day possible.” That commitment to making people happy – whether by staying at the park well after closing time to retrieve a lost item for a guest, or giving heartfelt hugs and sending handwritten thank-you notes to her team members at the end of the season – earned Emery a 2024 Cedar Fair Soul Award. Now in its third year, the Soul Award is the highest achievement presented to associates. For Emery, who has held a variety of jobs at Michigan’s Adventure over the past 10 years, it’s a labor of love. “To me, it’s about giving your heart to what you do. It’s about showing up. It’s about giving your all. It’s caring about your guests and the people you work with. We’re a small park and we all have to work really hard and pull for each other. And that shows in everything we do,” she said. Congratulations Jill! https://lnkd.in/gnDnC8-j

Yes James Cheng !! This was an amazing presentation!! My social worker heart was cheering the entire time because you were so on point with your explanations!! Key takeaways: — Soft skills are needed more than ever to be successful in today’s world. Learn to be a leader with empathy, adaptability, high communication skills and a clear vision. - We are all Leaders because we all have influence. How are you using your influence today? - Live life on purpose. When it’s your time to leave this earth, you won’t care how great your NPS is or all the reports you stayed up late to complete. You are going think about the time you got to spend with friends & family, or how you allowed yourself to experience joy. There were so many great points! How are you cultivating your Best Yes today?!!!!

If you are in a leadership role and have the great pleasure of mentoring people, you never know what words will resonate in your conversations. You tend to think it's the longer suggestions you give them after listening to their challenge(s). But a lot of the time it's the seemingly small things said that resonate the most. #beaforcedontforce #sales #consultiveselling
Day 1 of the North Carolina Craft Brewers Conference and I had the privlage of attending a great presention by my former boss, Scott McWhorter presenting on “Be a force. Don’t Force.” Although I’m no longer in sales, these words still resonate with me. During trying times of Covid and sales, Scott shared this with me a few years ago and it stuck. Thanks for the insights and continued mentorship over the years! Grateful for the opportunity to connect and learn together this week! #knowledgeispower

FivePoint introduced the first of what is now eight communities in Great Park Neighborhoods 10 years ago with the promise that “life will be different here.” It’s more than just a slogan. It’s a goal and daily challenge to create a place with distinctive style and personality. One that’s lively and imaginative, with a few surprises and delights along the way. Beyond the creation of new streets and structures, residents and visitors tell us they feel a strong sense of community, opportunity and connection at GPN... something different than what they once knew before. As FivePoint continues to invite the community to celebrate GPN’s 10th anniversary, it’s been fun to find collaborators who share that vision and have an interest in creating a uniquely DIFFERENT kind of experience -- both for Great Park Neighborhoods residents and the surrounding community. In the spirit of a modern-day speakeasy, the Irvine location of Left Coast Brewing Co. (located a stone's throw from GPN) has introduced a special “life will be different here” blonde ale this month into its collection of craft brews. If you know to ask for it and tell them Great Park Neighborhoods sent you, you’ll get a free collectible 10th anniversary pint glass. And food/drink discounts (shh… it’ll be our secret). But for those who don't know to ask for it, we're hearing the name is piquing curiosity, inspiring taste tests, and creating conversation. So... please stop by to raise a glass and say CHEERS TO 10 YEARS… and celebrate the beauty that comes with being different. Details: https://lnkd.in/g2NzC5rR

Pictured is a photo of Old Main and Ashurst Auditorium. I grew up in Flagstaff and went to NAU. Old Main was the icon of the campus. But Ashurst is where I took piano lessons in the fourth grade! Yes, I could play the piano. But when you’re learning to play the piano, you make lots of mistakes – that’s expected because you’re the learner. You don’t worry about it because you’re getting better even though your mistakes sound a bit rough. No mistakes, no improvement. It’s like that in business and in life. We make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. However, when someone on your team makes a mistake, what is your response? Good questions will give you far more insight into the person and unlock their potential. You don’t point out how rough it sounds since most people already know that! You ask the right questions to evoke self-discovery. Self-discovery is where the real learning takes place. Claude Levi-Strauss said, “The wise man doesn’t give the right answers, he poses the right questions.” We ask great questions at Convene...
