Latent Space just release a great podcast titled "How To Hire AI Engineers". I encourage anybody involved in the LLM space to listen to this. AI but different... I've always been interested in the power and the "shit show" of social media - I wrote my dissertation on the power of Twitter to change the production of online news (shock horror it did). Brené Brown 's Unlocking Us podcast has a ongoing series on AI. This first episode "Artificial Intimicacy" with Esther Perel has really caught my attention and re-sparked my research mind. As our Digital Showcase at DWP Digital kicked off yesterday my mind is buzzing on how we interact, where, how and why and our presence as humanity operates at scale - both positively and negatively - and how we, as humans, are at a tipping point, more than ever as we live a ubiquitous existence and experience of life - online, with and through tech. As I write this I'm surrounded by people on the commute with their heads down (much like discussions in this podcast) life passing them by, unless it's on a screen - "a thousand friends but no-one to feed my cat". No doubt AI will bring efficiencies, and you can read more about government AI and "redbox" for civil servants with a quick google... but in this post I'm guiding anyone interested in hearing human focused discussions about technology, to listen to this now, it may peak your interest and/or reassure you that you are not alone and we do need discussions about how we put the human and kind, back into society alongside AI and not further enable Artificial Intimicacy. (p.s not written with AI).
