It's not a sudden onset; rather, it unfolds through distinct stages. It starts with casual reliance, progresses to seeking solace in alcohol for fleeting moments of joy, then evolves into dependence, and finally, full-blown addiction. This narrative of alcohol dependency typically spans years, though sometimes it accelerates within months. Recognizing these stages is paramount.
