Planning a community service event could be a stress reliever for office workers. The benefits include injecting joy and purpose into work, inspiring employees, building team spirit, boosting job satisfaction, and enhancing the company's reputation. Most employees value volunteerism. A 2021 survey showed that 95% of Generation Z job seekers find it essential for their work to have meaning, and 62% look to join a company that shares their values. Organizing a community event doesn't have to be time-consuming; partnering with nonprofits or local businesses can make the process easier. To get the most out of a summer volunteer project, let employees lead, keep it simple and achievable, and recognize team members who volunteer. Highlighting your community service can differentiate you in a crowded market and attract new customers and employees. It's important to communicate your community involvement, as people like to associate with businesses that support causes they care about. But do you know why your employees aren't motivated? In this blog from Senior Strategic Consultant, Kelly Lynch, we explore some of the typical barriers to motivation that employees face and give you some practical ways to overcome them through the lens of something called Self-Determination Theory (a psychological framework that focuses on intrinsic motivation and psychological needs). Dive in at the link below to discover how you can apply Self Determination Theory to more effectively motivate your employee volunteers! Check it out: https://bit.ly/3YpvbaI

Want to get your team of 100-300 together this summer? It's time to start planning! Here are three tips to get you going 👇 1️⃣ Get Creative with Outdoor Activities Take advantage of the beautiful weather by planning outdoor activities. Think: company picnics in the park, a beach volleyball tournament, or hiking adventures - getting outside will energize your team and encourage camaraderie! 2️⃣ Include Families for a Family-Friendly Affair Recognize that employees have lives outside of work by organizing family-friendly events. Consider hosting a BBQ where employees can bring their families, or plan a day at a local amusement park. By involving families, you show your appreciation for your team's holistic well-being. 3️⃣ Encourage Team Building through Volunteer Work Give back to the community while strengthening your team's bonds by organizing volunteer activities. Whether it's cleaning up a local park, participating in a charity run, or volunteering at a food bank, coming together for a good cause will create lasting memories and a sense of pride in the team! Last thoughts: Summer is a time for fun, relaxation, and building connections. By following these tips, you not only create memorable experiences for your team but also nurture a positive and cohesive company culture. We can't control the sunshine, but we can still create moments of laughter and meaningful connections! 🌟 #teamevents #hrinsights #teamculture

Founder, Intentional Volunteering Hub | Development Advocate | Driving Social Impact | Project Leadership | Program Coordinator, Ileka Foundation | Youth Development | Agribusiness
In February, I spoke as a Guest at the CAREHUB FOUNDATION Volunteers Conference, I emphasized the vital role of active engagement when volunteering for organizations or projects. I conveyed to the participants that merely being a passive member is insufficient. Instead, I encouraged them to embrace responsibilities and, whenever possible, assume leadership roles. 📌 True leadership goes beyond official titles; it's about how you conduct yourself. You can inspire and motivate others, irrespective of whether you hold a formal position. It's about taking initiative, demonstrating dedication, and setting a positive example through your actions and behavior. These efforts, regardless of your formal role, contribute to your confidence and make your contributions meaningful. 📌 While we often discuss the importance of building confidence, it's crucial to understand that confidence grows through accomplishing goals and achieving milestones. Each task you complete and every meaningful contribution you make to a cause or project contributes to your confidence. Merely being a passive volunteer without active participation won't help you advance your career or achieve the growth you desire. In summary, I urged attendees not to limit themselves to being passive participants but to take the lead whenever the opportunity arises. Active engagement, assuming responsibilities, and making meaningful contributions are the cornerstones of both personal growth and a successful volunteer experience. Going through my photos, I thought to share this with someone.❤️💫
