Wake up media outlets in Australia .... why is it that when news stories are run in sport, male accomplishments are almost always mentioned first? What do women need to do, to be mentioned first?
Day 1, Australian Olympic trials and 3 of Australia's top talent, make the teams in almost recording breaking time, Ariarne Titmus almost breaks her own world record in the 400m freestyle, Kaylee McKeown in the 200m IM breaks a new Commonwealth Record and Emma McKeon books her spot in the 100m Fly - marks the first woman to qualify for the team aged in her 30s since Lisa Curry in 1992.
However, the lead off story on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) by a female journalist, was that Sam Short and Elijha Winnington put on a great head-to-head race to qualify for the 400m. Is that more news-worthy than what Titmus, McKeown and McKeon had accomplished before the men's events had event started?
How can we influence change here .... let's treat our competitors fairly and recognise achievements rather than always just defaulting to men first.

Transforming Jefferson County: The Birth of FCSO's FAT to Fit Olympic Games
In 2011, the small yet determined community of Jefferson County, Mississippi, faced a startling revelation. A local news broadcast on WJTV Channel 12, coupled with an in-depth report from the Clarion Ledger Jackson newspaper, declared Jefferson County as "the fattest county in America." This eye-opening moment became the catalyst for a transformative journey led by the Fayette Community Service Organization (FCSO), spearheaded by Mr. Anthony Edwards and Mrs. Janell Westley-Edwards.
A Wake-Up Call and a Vision
The news struck a chord with the Edwards, who had recently attended the Global Obesity Summit in Jackson, MS. Inspired by the summit’s call to action and armed with a wealth of knowledge, they returned to Jefferson County with a renewed sense of purpose. They saw the health crisis in their community not as a deterrent but as an opportunity to ignite change and promote a culture of wellness.
Remarkable Achievements of the FAT to Fit Olympic Games
Over the years, FTFOG has achieved remarkable milestones:
- Conducted 15,883 free health screenings.
- Awarded 1,101 new bicycles.
- Distributed approximately $12,100 in cash prizes, health equipment, health gear, and apparel.
- Attracted participants from 13 Mississippi counties and six states nationwide.
- Engaged four local municipalities as official members of the FAT to Fit Family network, including Jefferson County Board of Supervisors and the City of Vicksburg.
**Expanding Horizons: Georgia 2024**
As FCSO prepares to host the FAT to Fit Olympic Games in Savannah, Georgia, this August, the spirit of community-driven health advocacy remains strong. **A Call to Action**
FCSO invites community members, local businesses, and media outlets to join in this transformative journey. The FAT to Fit Olympic Games is more than an event; it is a movement towards a healthier, happier future for all. Check out my recent article reflecting on the power of finding your tribe (We call them 'Trybes) be it in sport, work or friendships and the impact it can have on your well being.
This is such a GOOD campaign for Megan Thee Stallion to be a partner in! Anyone who knows her knows that the Ah-lympics (with an AH 👅) is SO on brand for her. It also speaks to the younger generation and offers just the right amount of silly/goofy.
What do you think? Is it better to take a funny approach or something more serious for the Olympics?

Life’s biggest lessons lies within those challenging times. It is in the midst of those most challenging times that we experience the most growth.
CHAellNGEs are there to get us to see something that we need to change in order to grow into the person we are becoming. When we decide that we are done being where we are we will change whatever it is that is keeping us stuck, stagnant or on the hamster wheel!
Challenges are not to be hidden , covered up or pretended to be a strength. This will only hinder your growth and furthermore, be discovered by those people closest to you such as you family , friends, clients and prospects that are looking for a genuine partnership or connection.
Let’s make sure that we stretch ourselves out of our comforts zone and be will to growing evolving and elevating to new levels!#tranformationalcoaching

This is a great piece of creative thinking on so many levels:
1) Turning a burning question (How is Damian smelling after all those days in his sweaty kit?) into an opportunity
2) Understanding the “client” - Donovan Goliath demonstrate he knows the link between the South African Rugby Union (SA Rugby) Springboks and Dove enhancing that partnership, turning information into insights and an outcome.
3) Damian jumping on board - and doing so quickly while the topic and Donovan’s idea are still hot
PS: I hope Donovan got paid 😉
