Over the past 18 months, as I made the move from Los Angeles to Lisbon, there have been two professional experiences that stick out as game-changers for me. Firstly, I've loved working as a Fractional Leader, helping startups with under $10 million in revenue grow. Whether it's improving sales process, creating marketing strategies or scaling through global expansions, it's been an awesome journey so far. Secondly, joining Pavilion has been incredible. It's provided fantastic resources, enabling me to learn new frameworks and fill in some knowledge gaps that I bypassed on the way to helping startups achieve $500 million in revenue. Hats off to Sam Jacobs and the team! Also, a belated shout-out to my CRO School cohort buddies Raj Siva-Kumar and Hans Magnus Wold as we 'graduated' CRO school together! __________________________________________________ I help start- ups ‘Evolve Beyond Founder-Led Sales’ Three ways I can support: ⭐ Zero to One: Helping you find Product-Market Fit and first paying customers. ⭐ One to Ten: Assisting you in defining and scaling go-to-market strategy and process. ⭐ New Market Expansion: Guiding strategy and execution for new market or product launches.

We’re closing this week with good news! Yesterday, we graduated from the Founder Institute London program 🥳 We’re not going to lie, it was a lot of hard work but this is actually what we’re the most grateful for. It was an incredible opportunity for us to fine-tune our mission, vision, and priorities. And all that in an amazing company! Highly recommended program for startups in the discovery phase. We can’t help but notice how our company, processes, and goals have shifted in these past few months. Great thanks to the amazing team: Richard Cristina, Danny Matthews, Colin Howes, and Nadine Campbell 🙌 To our working group buddies: Audra A., FunzEventz®, Bacely YoroBi 🇫🇷🇺🇲 It was a pleasure. Fingers crossed for our fellow graduates. We’re hoping to hear about your brands soon. PS. As you can see, we weren't able to join the in-person graduation party but let's say we were 😅

This rather unflattering picture of me is the moment two years ago when Gary Vaynerchuk signed off the call after committing to invest in Sleuth. He said he knew I was going to win within the first few mins of meeting the month before — even his team was shocked that he broke his normal investing process. So much of the Sleuth journey has been unpredictable and expressed by my sheer, almost maniacal purpose, which helped me connect with people like Gary Vee. Because honestly, I had worked for several startups and never really aspired to build my own VC-backed business. But I always had the intense ambition to make a difference. At scale. A similar sense of deep purpose is embodied by so many of the amazing early founders I’ve met and mentored. I find myself wanting to share my experience in case it eases their journey. I think there should be a founder-to-founder playbook to give insider info to founders earlier in their journey. 🌟When you’re purpose-driven sometimes that North Star can slow you down instead of accelerate your progress. But speed is of the essence, especially in this market. For example, here are some of the mistakes I’ve seen (and made!) amongst very early founders getting ready to raise: 1️⃣the deck is too general. It undersells their unique value prop as a founder and their vision comes across as idealistic instead of pragmatically ambitious 2️⃣the product is expressed as too technical to be convincing there’d be early market adoption, or not technical/specific enough to have defensibility 3️⃣they completely underplay their experience and adjacently fail to translate their background for a VC audience 4️⃣their TAM/SAM/SOM or competition slide isn’t rigorous enough. Instead of using it as a a way to express their business acumen, the generality of the slides backfires All of these are easily fixed at the early stage; I think it’s simply about knowing what the game is and what the rules are. I just didn’t know enough — had I first gotten the skinny from other purpose-driven founders, I think I would’ve been able to more quickly plan a strategy that’s unique to me. ❓What are some misperceptions you experienced as an early founder or that you’ve seen in early founders that come simply from a lack of knowing the game? #purposedrivenfounders

Are you ready to learn how to succeed as a Founder's Associate? 🚀 After reading numerous articles about the role, I felt there was still a gap in understanding what it actually takes to excel. To find that out, I interviewed some of the brightest and most driven FAs making waves in London. 🌊 A big shoutout to David Ola from Nostos Genomics, Stephanie Leung from Stackfix, Felix Fernandez from Otto and Ines de Lestapis from Fertifa. 🙏 PS: If you are a generalist looking for a social space where the best operators meet and have fun, check out Operators & Friends. 💙 #startups #founders #founderassociates #venturecapital

I was delighted to join as a mentor for the second time, engaging with a new round of entrepreneurs and mentors. The presentations and direct feedback are always insightful, but the true highlight for me is the networking break and the Q&A sessions with the founders afterward. These interactions not only enrich the event but also provide unique opportunities to address the founders' specific needs and foster deeper connections. #startup #mentoring
🗣 Founder Institute Berlin: Out of the Comfort Zone. Why Early Pitching Makes All the Difference! Yesterday, I had the opportunity to participate as a jury member at the Founder Institute #PitchNight, that took place at Le Wagon in Berlin. I was deeply impressed by the high-profile jury committee, which brought a wealth of expertise and impressive backgrounds to the table. As an early-stage #founder who has not yet graduated from the Institute, it's certainly challenging to go out there and pitch. The grades given were not always motivating, but the feedback should have been. Even if the remarks pointed out that something was... 😰 missing, 😰 unclear, 😰 not well articulated, 😰 or even not convincing... all of this feedback is incredibly valuable at the very early stages of founding a #startup! So, dear founders, keep your motivation high and see all of this feedback as a precious gift. Still two weeks to go till graduation night! A big shoutout to everyone who presented, as well as to my fellow mentors on the jury: Florian Fehr, Jonathan Eade, Roman Fernandez, Thorsten Maus, Eve Büchner, Neil Baptista, Andrey Kostyuk, Tienko Rasker, arne Wittmer, Claudia Bacco, Johanna Feick, Vlad Panait, Ulrike Maichel. Thank you, Ferdinand Mühlhäuser 🇺🇦🌍, for the invite and trust and also Olivia Czetwertynski for the great moderation of the virtual pitching room and lovely catch-up!

My contribution to LinkedIn article titled "What is the role of a board of directors in a startup?" ---------------------------------- Forming a Board of Directors starts with your Bylaws. How the Board will be structured and operates are set forth in your Bylaws, including: • how members are selected; • minimum and maximum number; • length of terms; • replacement when terms expire; • how may a member be removed; • what if a member resigns, becomes disabled, dies. All the above (and more) are choices to be made! Bottom line: founders should think deeply and strategically, and seek expert advice, regarding all potential Board of Directors options. Your choices at this initial very early stage of formation will almost certainly be one of the many factors that determines whether your company is ultimately successful.
