Champion of Champions!

After an incredible 9.5 years at Slack, it’s time for me to '/leave'. “Giving away your Legos”-a metaphor for passing on pieces of what we’ve built to others in order to grow and scale, was an ethos that Slack practiced every day. Slack was under 100 employees when I joined, and every person I've worked with since has given me a colourful lego piece that has shaped my journey. I'm so lucky to have worked with some of the most talented, empathetic, and genuinely good people, thank you for the unforgettable memories I’m walking away with. From Beefmas with the YVR office, to the first accounts offsite, to IPO day, and to the customers I've had the honour of working with, each moment has been a building block in not just my career, but in who I am today. It’s at Slack where I found my passion for working with Champions. Creating Champion programs, seeing their impact, and getting to work with such a talented and engaged group of users inspired me to turn this into a career. Thank you Slack Champs, YOU are the Champions! To the leaders I have learned so much from: -Stewart Butterfield and Cal Henderson, you created something so special that changed the way people work forever, thank you for trusting us all with your vision and for creating the gold standard in company culture.  -AJ Tennant and James Sherrett, thank you for taking a chance on me, I had little experience but a lot of enthusiasm and you saw the potential in that.  -Dave Macnee, the best first day buddy anyone could have. -Robert Frati, from Slack's got Talent to GSO, thank you for breathing new life into the Sales and CS org. -Christina Crawford Kosmowski and Matthew O'Connor thank you for seeing the value of Champions in the early days of Slack CS -Alison Barrett, thank you for trusting me to run the Champion Program, Slackpalooza will go down in history!  -Kelly Bray, thank you for your mentorship as I entered the world of scaled CS.  -Alison McPhail thank you for your leadership in re-defining champs and for bringing me to the digital team where things really started to take off.  -M. Nicholas Chandra, thank you for being one of my biggest champions and for pushing me to advocate for myself. There are too many more to share, you know who you are! ❤️ As I pass on my Legos, I look forward to seeing the amazing things Slack will continue to build. I’ll always be a Slack Champion 🏆. I've always said it would take something exceptional for me to leave Slack, and something truly exceptional came along. I'm so excited and honored to be joining OpenAI, where I'll be spearheading the Champion Program. I can't wait to harness the power of Champions to amplify OpenAI's mission: ensuring that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. I'm only two days in but I can already tell this is a very special place filled with immense talent and drive. So, stay tuned—something exciting is on the horizon, and keep an eye out for a Champion event near you!
