Reflecting on #internationalwomensday last Friday, Niki Ford's announcement to step down in July as CEO of Australian Organic Limited (AOL) is a reminder of the importance of women in leadership. Her journey as the first female CEO of Australian Organic Limited (AOL) stands as a beacon of progress. Why? Because leadership isn't just about guiding a team; it's about doing hard, bold and courageous things. It’s about embodying the change and innovation necessary for an industry's growth. Niki Ford's tenure embodied this, marked by dedication and a vision for a sustainable future, underscoring the indispensable role of women at the helm. She's not only led AOL through significant challenges but has also been a passionate advocate for organic regulatory reform, showcasing the power of leadership driven by purpose and conviction. Not to brag, but I’ve had an amazing lunch (complete with oat milk lattes and ice cream waffles!) with 3 incredible female colleagues at work today! (Should’ve been 4 if Min Lee was able!) What’s the big deal, you ask? Well, all 4 women happen to hold senior leadership positions in my beloved ST Logistics. While this may seem like a small number, women actually account for 36% of the leadership roles in corporate functions of the Company! This is significant, given that supply chain and logistics management has long been considered a male-dominated industry, with women struggling to break through gender stereotypes to succeed in leadership positions. Kudos, then, to these women who, despite the challenges that they face, have achieved great success in the industry in general, and in ST Logistics in particular. In fact, all 4 women drive growth in our businesses, with each of them heading the Finance, Procurement, Business Assurance & Compliance aspects of the Company. May they forever inspire others and continue to empower women in their paths. I’m proud to have them as my colleagues at work in ST Logistics, and even prouder that I belong to a company where the contributions of women are valued as having a direct and positive impact in its growth.
