Ciena expands partnership with Flex to make optical gear in US under BEAD Read more at: https://lnkd.in/dW6gnDXR NEW DELHI: Ciena has expanded its partnership with Flex to manufacture Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD)-compliant pluggable optical line terminals (OLTs) as well as optical network units (ONU). Production is expected to begin at a Flex factory in the US mid-2024, the telecom gear maker said in a statement. The BEAD program provides $42.45 billion to expand high-speed internet access by funding planning, infrastructure deployment and adoption programs in all 50 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, as per the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
