Kijamii is hiring Senior Accountant The Senior Accountant is responsible for posting and processing journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded, updating accounts receivable and issuing invoices and updating accounts payable and performing reconciliations. Key Responsibilities: • Receiving and matching the invoices according to the purchase order/ Shipment. • Directing the cost to the proper accounts. • Prepare, update and manage the daily and monthly payments schedule of all creditors. • Monitor payments, review bank account reconciliations on payment runs, ensure payments are properly executed, and payment failures are identified. • Reconcile GL control accounts relating to accounts payables and cost on regular basis and ensure correct and accurate balances. • Support monthly and annual closing processes “At the end of the month or year, • Record information such as accruals, deferral, reclass, and interdepartmental entries ...etc. • Preparing & controlling withholding tax reports & payments related. • Handling Audit activities. • Handling tax files with a tax consultant. • Support other functions whenever needed. What makes a great AP clerk? I was thinking about this, this morning. AP is the backbone of any finance function, they're the first contact point for suppliers, they ensure that the business runs smoothly and no accounts go on stop. But what are the key skills needed to succeed as an AP clerk? ◾Customer service skills - You will be dealing with suppliers who have anything from a simple query, through to potentially angry suppliers who may not have been paid. Having the customer service skills to deal with these are crucial. ◾Attention to detail/accuracy - You will be dealing with large amounts of data, day in day out. Remaining accurate when inputting data or checking data is vital. You need to ensure that you're paying the correct amount to the correct accounts every time. Any issues at this point can cause major issues for businesses. ◾Organisational skills - You will often have multiple tasks that need to be completed each day, alongside the ad-hoc tasks that each day can throw up. You need to be able to prioritize these tasks quickly, ensuring all are completed on time and to the right standard. ◾Adaptability - The world of AP is changing so quickly with automation, portals, PO numbers etc. Alongside various other transformation projects that take place throughout businesses. Being adaptable and able to embrace change is vital as an AP clerk. There's a few of the key skills I believe you need to be successful in the world of AP. Of course there is many more skills needed in an ever changing finance function, but for me if you can nail these skills you give yourself every chance of being the best AP clerk you can be.
