🎆Happy 4th of July from CPS! 🎆 Today, we celebrate the spirit of independence and unity that defines our nation. As we gather with family and friends to enjoy fireworks and festivities, let's also reflect on the values of freedom, diversity and opportunity that we uphold in our classrooms every day. Please note that ALL CPS buildings will be closed today in observance of the holiday. Wishing our CPS community a safe and joyful Independence Day!

A great teacher and visionary leader.
Today, we remember the founder of our trust school, Ms. Nasra Wazir Ali. She was a visionary educator who dedicated her life to providing quality education to all children, regardless of their background. Her legacy lives on through Nasra School which she founded, which continues to provide quality education to students from all walks of life. We are grateful for her contributions to the community. In her memory, we will continue to work hard to uphold her values and to provide our students with the best possible education.

Our program engages students with place based pedagogy and today we dove right in with a visit to the location where Vanport once stood and where PSU began. #vanport #inquiryforjustice #teagle #psu #universitystudies #access #studentcenteredlearning #placebasedpedagogy #seniorinquiry #oregoninquiry
Inquiry for Justice on Instagram: "Today we went to Vanport, where we learned about not only the grave injustices committed against this thriving Black community, but how the United States systematically wiped out a way of life that native people had been living for hundreds of years."

In a recent edition of Exchange Every Day dedicated to embracing families, communities, and culture, Monica Wells, our family and community program administrator, shared her deep connection to families and communities and how it positively impacts children's success. "Strong, authentic relationships between our families, students, and educators are key. We must speak life into our students, cheer them on, teach them the skills, and provide the tools they need to be prepared for the future. We must show examples of the power, importance, and necessity of community." Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gc7ur8uu
