Year One in #LA: A journey of #resilience & #growth About a year ago, my partner and I embarked on a new adventure in Los Angeles. I had just taken on the role as a Sr. Product Manager at Disney Entertainment, where my goal was to craft imaginative, interactive, and inclusive experiences. It was a thrilling experience diving into the world of emerging technologies within the streaming industry and rekindling my passion for zero-to-one product execution. I had the privilege of collaborating on captivating projects with some of the brightest minds in the industry. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone at Disney who made my time unforgettable, especially the PAINT team, whose dedication, trust, guidance, and leadership were invaluable. 🎬 While my time at #disney was unexpectedly cut short, my inspiration wasn’t! This experience reinforced my determination to continue growing as a #productmanager, turning innovative ideas into reality and crafting exceptional user experiences. ☄️When life threw this curveball, my #network stepped up in incredible ways, ensuring I could keep moving forward. What does this teach us? 1. True leadership shines in uncomfortable situations: • My Disney teammates offered unwavering support, both professionally and personally. • The #IPMA Network provided valuable assistance, templates, and a safe space to discuss next steps. 2. There's immense value in purposeful LinkedIn connections: • I reached out to dozens of people I'd genuinely connected with over the years, and this deliberate network-building paid off during this challenging time. 🎯 I'm sharing this story for three important reasons: 1. I know many in my network might be facing similar challenges (or know someone who is) Please consider me and my network as a resource. 2. As a Product Manager and #Mentor, I advocate for embracing vulnerability. Why? Because it leads to deeper connections, builds trust, and fosters a culture of honesty and growth. 3. With our rich experience in crafting engaging content for cinema foyers and our ability to adhere to stringent brand guidelines, we were the perfect match for the challenge. 🌟 The Execution: Our creative team dove into the Mars brief and quickly developed compelling content that not only explained the mix station concept but also highlighted Vue's price promotions. ⏰ The Turnaround: In just two weeks, our content was ready, approved and deployed across 36 Vue Cinema locations, directly on mix stations and digital displays in the foyers. 👍 The Result: The impact was immediate and profound. Mars Wrigley was so impressed that they extended the campaign, removing the price promotion for ongoing appeal. CX STRATEGY: Do you have your own form of The Walt Disney Company's Integration Matrix? It's a powerful tool for aligning different parts of the organization on what it takes to deliver great experiences. Their role in it, as well as how it all comes together! Here is a conceptual example of how Disney's Integration Matrix helps identify how each of its Three Delivery System Components delivers on it's Four Service Quality Standards. Three Delivery System Components: -> Cast: The employees at Disney Theme Parks, from ride operators to characters, who are integral to the guest experience. -> Setting: The physical environment of the parks, which includes the design and themes of various lands, attractions, and facilities. -> Process: The operational procedures and policies that ensure a seamless experience for guests, such as ticketing, entry processes, and ride operations. Four Service Quality Standards: -> Safety: This is a top priority in Disney Theme Parks, ensuring that all attractions, facilities, and experiences are safe for guests. -> Courtesy: This element is about providing exceptional guest service, where every employee (cast member) is trained to be courteous and helpful. -> Show: This pertains to the overall entertainment value, including parades, fireworks, character interactions, and the immersive experience of each theme park. -> Efficiency: This involves the smooth operation of the parks, including queue management, ride maintenance, and overall guest flow. Take a cue from their playbook and explore how you can innovate within your own business or organization using success from the past or present. Perhaps a successful process or system in one department could be scaled up across the company? Can you transform a piece of equipment into captivating promotional items that convey your businesses unique offerings? Think creatively about how you can integrate your brand ethos or values into event themes. When something is resonating with your audience, whether internal or external, it's an opportunity to dissect what's working and harness it for fresh successes. Building a theme park land based on one of your products or services may not be realistic. However, I guarantee there are success stories within your organization that are waiting to be repurposed to create future magic. #WhatWouldDisneyDo

When I began my professional journey at the Walt Disney Studios over 20 years ago, I was ambitious, hungry, and driven, but I had zero experience. I wanted to make movies, start my own venture, and simply build something. This led to the pursuit of numerous projects that ultimately failed. The primary reason for experiencing so much early failure was the lack of idea validation. At that time, I didn't even know what that meant. Now, I understand its significance, and I want to emphasize the two main reasons why it's crucial to validate your idea: ▶ Market validation ▶ Low cost and low risk for pivoting Reduce your chances of failure by validating your idea from the outset.
