Building a safer country is pretty simple, but it's not easy. At Flock Safety, we believe trust is foundational to a safer country, but I see the headlines just like you do. I see the division in our country. Nearly every topic seems to be polarizing - just peek at any comments section and read the hot takes. At times, it seems impossible to move forward with this volume of vitriol. But in this new year, I want to share a little hope about how our External Affairs team is doing something really simple to build trust: 1. spreading the positive impact of crimes being solved with our technology 2. helping to educate the public about what our technology does / does not do 3. publicly acknowledging where the risk lies and showing cities how to mitigate those risks through good regulation and policy Our PR and Communications team, led by Holly Beilin, generated 12,000+ earned media coverages in 2023. That means people around the country got to hear the positive work of Flock Safety supporting our customers on average 32x per day. Those stories include solving otherwise unsolvable crimes, bringing down crime rates in cities, stopping kidnappings, and many many more. Our Municipal Engagement team, led by Hector Soliman-Valdez, stood in front of 250+ city councils / board of supervisors, answered hard questions in public, and won the right to install our technology. No other public safety technology company has sought democratic authorization at this scale this quickly and with these results. And we've supported the passage regulatory ordinances outlining the safe and effective uses of public safety technology. Our Government Affairs team, led by Kameron Simmons and Kevin Kane, advocated to pass four laws in 2023 (FL - HB 1305, NC - SB409, TN - SB 439, UT - SB 250), allowing us to operate on state rights of way where we previously were not authorized to operate. This moves us one step closer to ending otherwise unsolvable crimes like human trafficking, which our technology has already been proven to solve on state roadways in other states. None of this work is easy. It takes a team of people who care about the mission and are willing to work long hours advocating with people from various backgrounds and belief systems. It takes a tremendous amount of empathy and understanding. But it simply works. This roadmap leads to more trust between law enforcement and the people they're tasked to serve, more transparency into what technology is actually being used in communities, more accountability in enforcing the law the right way, research-based methodology into how to solve crime faster, and ultimately, building a safer country for all of us to thrive. Here's to making 2024 an even safer country, filled with good policy, smart regulations, and more trust than we had in years past.

Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTSTs) are synonymous with Safe Communities. These classic programs launched in the mid-1990s. They play a critical role in traffic safety, connecting local communities, identifying priority problems, and implementing countermeasures. Florida’s traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities are at critical levels. Our CTSTs work together to improve traffic safety and help curb dangerous driving behaviors. We bring highway safety, public health, law enforcement, and business leaders across our 18 counties. Teams address local traffic safety concerns and the ongoing roadway safety crisis. Safe Communities is a model used by communities nationwide to identify and address local injury problems. Four essential characteristics define Safe Communities: 1. Use of multiple sources of data to identify community injury problems; 2. Citizen involvement; 3. Expanded partnerships; and 4. A comprehensive and integrated injury control system. The mission of the FDOT District 2 Community Traffic Safety Program is to reduce traffic-related fatalities and injuries. We do this within our communities by solving local problems with state assistance. We strive for Florida’s goal of Target Zero, following the Safe System Approach while incorporating the fundamentals of Safe Communities. Enhancing Community Safety: 5 Proven Methods to Prevent Car Break-Ins for Property Managers! As property managers, safeguarding the well-being of your residents and their assets is of paramount importance. We present to you five proactive measures that have proven effective in preventing car break-ins and fostering a secure environment for your community: 1️⃣ Install High-Quality Lighting: Illuminating your property adequately is a powerful deterrent against potential thieves. Thoughtfully positioning bright lighting in parking lots and common areas eradicates shadowy spaces that criminals might exploit. 2️⃣ Implement Surveillance Cameras: Invest in a comprehensive CCTV system, providing vigilant monitoring of parking lots and key entry points. The presence of visible cameras serves as a strong deterrent and assists in identifying culprits in the unfortunate event of an incident. 3️⃣ Secure Entry Points: Prioritize the fortification of access points to the property. Utilize key fobs, access cards, or secure gates to restrict entry solely to authorized personnel and residents, enhancing control over who enters the premises. 4️⃣ Raise Awareness Among Residents: Empower your community by educating residents about car break-in prevention strategies. Emphasize the importance of not leaving valuable items in plain sight and consistently locking their vehicles. 5️⃣ Hire a Private Security Company: Enlisting the services of a reputable private security company, such as GCI Security, can significantly bolster your property's protection. With over 35 years of experience safeguarding residential neighborhoods and apartment communities in the Greater St. Louis area, our team offers revolutionary patrol tactics and advanced security technology to ensure a safer environment for your residents. By synergizing these preventive measures, we can collaboratively foster a safe and secure community, instilling confidence and tranquility among residents. Public Safety Software News: Chicago Area Fire Department Uses Tech to Reduce Response Time Fire departments in Chicago’s southern suburbs expect response times to be reduced by an average of two minutes per call following the introduction of a new technology called CentralSquare Technologies Unify. South suburban fire departments expect response times to be reduced by an average of two minutes per call following the introduction of a new technology called CentralSquare Unify, which automates backup requests for units in neighboring communities. The technology has been used in other states, but this is the first time it’s been introduced in Illinois, according to fire officials who announced the system Wednesday. It is being paid for through a $600,000 state grant. “This will save lives, this will protect property,” said Richton Park fire Chief Mick Smith, MS. “I know my colleagues were saying the Southland usually comes second or third. It’s good to be first.” Orland Park Fire Protection District spearheaded the move, but about 20 other communities are participating in the program, including Blue Island, Palos Fire Department and Tinley Park, a news release said. State Sen. Michael E. Hastings, a Democrat representing Tinley Park and Frankfort, said he hopes this is just the beginning for first response agencies embracing this technology. #Centralsquare #centralsquaretechnologies #publicsafety #publicsafetysoftware #publicsafetytechnology #chicago #chicagofire #Palosfiredepartment #fire #technology Read the full article here--> https://hubs.li/Q02jWYZV0
