Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport - BHM recently unveiled a new air cargo facility in #birmingham. Among its uses, the 53,000-square-foot site will be home to international cargo flights from Stuttgart, Germany via global logistics company Kuehne+Nagel. The Birmingham Times reports, "This new partnership at BHM signals a growing trend of using secondary markets to move air cargo in the United States. Smaller airports that have the infrastructure in place and the warehousing capacity to offer are capitalizing on an industry need to get cargo out to customers faster, cheaper, and on a more predictable schedule than is possible at larger, more congested airports." #puttingpeoplefirst Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gT2T7zBY

According to the most recent figures (see graphic at end of article) from Airports Council International (ACI), of the top 20 cargo airports, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport saw the biggest percentage rise in cargo volumes last year. In spite of a decline in demand attributable to Covid restrictions, Hong Kong International Airport remained the busiest cargo airport in the world last year, according to preliminary data from ACI issued back in April for the top 10 airports. The principal US hub for Amazon Air and DHL Express, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, saw the highest cargo volume growth (+16.8%) among the top 20 airports. The council also noted that the top 20 airports handle about 42% of all air cargo traffic, which is highly concentrated among the major airports. #latestnews #cargoairport #hongkong #aircraft #aircargo #airfreight #airtransport #aircharter #commerce #airline #amazon #cargo #logistics #topairports #transportation

The #NewYork metropolitan area is home to JFK, Newark Liberty, and LaGuardia airports, playing a pivotal role in the global logistics ecosystem. It's not only the busiest airport system in the United States but also ranks second globally, serving as a vital hub for international trade. → In 2023, JFK Airport alone facilitated the movement of over 1.3 million metric tons of cargo, leading the charge in international airfreight. → Meanwhile, Newark Liberty is renowned for its ability to handle a diverse range of cargo types, including oversized items, a critical factor for many shipping strategies. → LaGuardia complements this by bolstering belly cargo capacity through its extensive passenger flight operations, enhancing connectivity and logistic options across the board. For #freightforwarders looking to enhance their shipping operations to and from the USA, getting a hold of the fine details is crucial. A solid understanding of how to best utilise the New York area's airports can significantly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of your logistics operations. It's about more than just moving goods, it's about optimising your approach to meet the needs of global trade. 🌏

"Creating the Future of Cargo. Together": It was with this vision for Frankfurt as an airfreight location in mind that we presented our new Cargo Master Plan last week. The clear aim of the strategy is for Frankfurt Airport to remain the European leader in this segment in the long term. Pierre Dominique Prümm, who was elected to the Executive Board of the Air Cargo Community Frankfurt in 2021 in addition to his position on the Fraport Executive Board, knows why FRA in particular, with its strong cargo network, is predestined for this special position in the air freight sector. In our new issue of "Three questions for ...", he talks about the increasingly complex requirements of the cargo business and the great potential of our airport. #FutureOfCargo #fraport #frankfurtairport #aviation #ConnectingTheWorldTogether
