Following complaints from residents and local businesses around Manchester, particularly regarding dangerous driving and inconsiderate parking around schools, we recently collaborated with Greater Manchester Police, Manchester City Council, and their Neighbourhood Compliance Team in the Gorton area to tackle the issue. Each week, we organised 'Action Days' in partnership with different agencies and schools to address illegal parking and untaxed vehicles. Our enforcement team quickly identified contraventions and took appropriate action. The aim of these days was to educate parents and children on the importance of parking correctly around schools. Additionally, we aimed to demonstrate the positive impact of our presence in keeping children safe and improving road safety during busy times. It’s from 2018 and a rare example of a story where jurisdictions go beyond merely enforcing #zoning, health and building codes with a rigid stop and shut it down mindset. Friday marks the 7th anniversary of the Grenfell Tower fire, which claimed 72 lives. This tragedy highlighted the inequalities in our society, particularly in housing safety for low-income and ethnically diverse communities.   Despite promises of reform, progress has been slow. Many buildings still have unsafe cladding, and numerous families live in substandard conditions. This ongoing issue highlights the need for urgent housing policy reforms and stricter safety regulations.   We must ensure that such a tragedy never happens again and work towards a fairer, safer, and more equitable society.   Like many organisations we will be observing a day of silence across all our media channels on Friday. #Grenfell #NeverForget #HousingEquality #SocialJustice #UKHousingCrisis
