Recently, RD1 Spirits announced its plans to become a new highlight in Lexington and a key destination on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This significant development marks Lexington as a pivotal gateway for bourbon enthusiasts. Our team at MWM played a role in securing tourism tax incentives for RD1, aiding in its journey to realization. RD1's home, The Commons Lex, is an exemplary infill development project set to transform Lexington. It repurposes land previously occupied by tobacco warehouses into a mixed-use space featuring offices, restaurants, and community areas. This approach revitalizes underused urban land and strengthens the city's fabric by integrating new, sustainable development within its historical context. The Commons and RD1 signal a forward-thinking step for Lexington, combining economic growth with mindful urban planning. This initiative enhances the city's appeal as a bourbon tourism destination and sets the tone for sustainable urban redevelopment! 🥃 #RD1 #thecommonslex #lexingtonky #mixedusedevelopment #taxincentives #bourbon #economicdevelopment #lexington #urbandesign #urbandevelopment #innovativedesign #citytransformation #bourbonwhiskey #communitybuilding #development

🏆 The NSW Favourite Place results are in! 🏆 Lackey Street, Summer Hill, was voted NSW’s favourite High Street 🎉 Lackey Street is a delightful mix of heritage buildings, neighbourhood shops, a corner pub, civic activities and open space. “Lackey Street is a pedestrian friendly place where crossing the street is easy due to little through traffic,” according to urban designer, UDA member and long-time resident Russell Olsson. “Street trees, kerbside planting and painted murals show community pride in a well-loved place.” 1,300 votes for cast and the top 3 streets were: 🥇 Lackey Street, Summer Hill - 15.5% 🥈 King Street, Newtown - 12.9% 🥉 Majors Bay Road, Concord - 12.7% All the finalists were high streets that evolved on an original tram route or near a train station, starting from urbanisation in the late 1800s. High streets built to serve Sydney’s original walkable neighbourhoods have clearly retained their appeal. 🚶♀️🚶 With this poll, we aimed to spark a public conversation on the types of high streets that people value. How can we protect and enhance these streets as places of economic activity and social interaction?❔
