The world is on the cusp of achieving an #AIDSFreeGeneration thanks in large part to strong, sustained U.S. investments in global health. Yesterday was #WorldHealthDay, and this year’s theme is “My health, my right.” According to the World Health Organization (WHO) Council on the Economics of Health for All, there are at least 140 countries that constitutionally recognize health as a human right, but not enough countries are passing and implementing laws to ensure access to health services. For the public, their key messages are: ☑ Know your health rights ☑ Make decisions about your own health ☑ Protect your right to health as a basic human right ☑ Promote the right to health as an intrinsic pillar of our broader human rights ☑ Champion health as a priority Learn more about PROPEL Health’s policy work: https://propel.pub/web

Supporting the health system functions as a whole will, directly and indirectly, contribute to improving public health outcomes. Besides the disease burdens (CD and NCD) we are fighting, we are also observing frequent pandemics/outbreaks like HIV, Ebola, and COVID-19 that challenged and continue to challenge the whole health systems functions of both developing and developed countries regardless of their economic and health system status. However, partners and governments are still left behind in innovating robust health systems function(s) that create confidence in our public not to lose their loved ones in same or worse outbreaks/pandemic. The world is living in unanticipated and uncertain era due to the above mentioned challenges and others (conflict, pollutions, and natural disasters) that are affecting the health, economic and social situations of the earthlings. It's a time to think outside the box for the government and their partners in the way we sense, plan, finance, implement, and monitor at least the traditional health system functions as a whole rather than creating and investing on vertical systems and programs
