IKEA has unveiled a new anti-tip feature for its dressers, 'Anchor and Unlock'. 🔒 It's a safety mechanism that limits the range of drawer opening - halting potential accidents and injuries - until the furniture is anchored to the wall. What makes it unique is IKEA's promise for 'Anchor and Unlock,' inviting other furniture manufacturers to adopt this safety feature. Carl Ervér, patent manager at IKEA of Sweden, stresses that collaboration wins over competition when it comes to furniture stability and safety. This is not the first time a company shares patents with the world, Some notable examples: 1️⃣ Volvo: In 1959, Volvo invented the three-point seatbelt and made the patent open for others, saving countless lives. 2️⃣ Tesla: In 2014, Elon Musk announced that Tesla wouldn't initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who used their technology "in good faith" to speed up electric vehicle adoption. 3️⃣ Google: TensorFlow was released as an open-source software library by Google in 2015. 4️⃣ Mozilla: Mozilla released Firefox web browser as open-source in 2004. 5️⃣ BMW: BMW opened up its hydrogen fuel cell technology patents in 2013. 6️⃣ IBM: IBM created the OpenPOWER Foundation in 2013 to share its POWER processor architecture.
