Nick Burstein, from CMC’s Business Development team, joined PSE&G’s Payment Assistance Outreach division at the New Jersey Social Workers Annual Conference in Atlantic City. The conference’s theme was “defeating trauma” so much of the content was geared toward those who are in tough situations. Burstein represented the Comfort Partners program to spread the word about how LMI communities can find relief from high energy bills. We did it! The NSBAC, as part of a mighty coalition of small business owners, small business support and advocacy organizations and community leaders, helped safeguard a vital support program for California small businesses. The Technical Assistance Program was on the chopping block for a proposed $13.1 million budget cut, 56.5 percent of the program's annual funding, but the grassroots efforts and unity of this coalition, along with supportive legislators of pro-small business policies, is what delivered this victory for the 4.1 million small businesses in California. “This is a victory for every voice that spoke up, whether in-person, online or in print against budget cuts to TAP,” said NSBAC President Allison Allain. “In this case, it didn’t just take a village, it took a whole state working together to protect small business owners.” Sign up to join NSBAC to help deliver more victories for small businesses at NSBAC dot US #smallbusiness #smallbusinessadvocacy #californiasmallbusiness #saveTAP

Atticus is a company we've partnered closely with since 2021, which makes it easy for consumers to find legal help by building the first digitally-native public-interest law firm. It's now the #1 firm in the country helping disabled Americans get benefits. It may seem to some that legal services is afar from Forerunner's consumer focus, but when we look around, we see a society that’s grappling with how to maintain their personal health and wellbeing (both mentally and physically), grasping for financial security and career fulfillment amid increased economic uncertainty, and generally struggling to live contented, purposeful lives -- Some of the most profound, urgent opportunities and needs for innovation are in rebuilding these core life foundations to work for today’s increasingly complex set of consumers. Atticus fits squarely into this nexus by arming people with an easy, powerful entrypoint to getting rightful aid in a crisis — a problem that disproportionately impacts middle and lower socioeconomic populations. Since Forerunner led Atticus’ series A two years ago, founder and CEO Sam Byker and team have executed with great speed and intention. We were honored to deepen our support in their series B fundraise earlier this year led by GV (Google Ventures), and are proud to continue to closely partner as they expand to provide great representation for ALL Americans. cc: Brian O'Malley KJ Sidberry

Panel Member -Child Safeguarding Practice Review Strategic Implementation lead for College of Policing / NPCC National Centre for Public Protection
Important reforms and thanks to Lorraine Parker VKPP - Vulnerability Knowledge & Practice Programme and police colleagues across the country for informing and influencing throughout the consultation with DFE colleagues and our safeguarding partners . Reforms are only ever as good as the leadership to implement them - at every level we all have a role to truly work together especially around information sharing which sadly continues to be a perennial issue in the harm and abuse of children and one in which is very clearly covered in WT2023 for the better . Multi Agency Safeguarding Hubs ( MASH) play a pivotal role in this and we have further work ongoing to be able to be very clear on what the key principles of a ‘excellent MASH ‘ are .
Earlier this year, we set out bold and ambitious plans to reform Children’s Social Care through our strategy ‘Stable Homes, Built on Love’. Today, we move forward with reform through new guidance and strategies aimed at our partners in local government, safeguarding and those working in the sector to improve the system for the children it serves. It is not just what we do, but how we do it, that makes the difference. Our goal is to strengthen the supports available to people with lived experience of abuse and neglect. The importance of relationships to achieving tangible outcomes for people and communities cannot be overstated. We are learning more about how change happens and hope our learning, practices and service model informs and encourages wider change in the system, with thanks to Matter of Focus, our learning partner. https://lnkd.in/eEfx5Rd6
