Welcome to the Ionian Islands! 🇬🇷 This collection of majestic Greek islands represents some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean Sea. With warm waters at a pleasant 24.2°C (75.6°F) on average, this beautiful area is very popular for sailing, snorkeling, and beach and scuba diving. Our orbiting thermal cameras have snapped some stunning shots showing how the warm waters hug the islands of Kerkyra, Paxi, Lefkada, Ithaki, and Kefalonia. The way these thermal gradients interact has implications not only for recreational activities but also for the marine ecosystem, affecting the conditions for the growth of various species of fish and aquatic plants. The Ionian Islands offer a remarkable opportunity for tourists, sailors, and researchers to explore the intricacies of marine life and the beauty of pristine waters. Utilizing our network of thermal satellites, we can continuously monitor and study these areas, ensuring the preservation and appreciation of this magnificent natural area! 🛰️ #Greece #ClimateChange #Infrared #EarthObservation

Milna volcano is the southernmost active volcano on Simushir Island, Kurile Islands. It is located immediately SE of the truncated remnant (somma) of Goiaschaia volcano's old cone. Milna volcano has a 3 km wide caldera breached to the south and steep flanks with deep erosion gullies. In the ice age, the caldera contained a glacier. A young cone with an andesitic dome was built inside the caldera during the past 10,000 years and now forms the highest point of the island.

Europe is in Danger! Campi Flegrei Supervolcano in Italy is About to Erupt Did you know that there is an active supervolcano in the middle of Europe? Right in its crater is located the picturesque Italian town of Pozzuoli with a population of 80,000 people. What's happening to the volcano right now? What is bradyseism and what are the dangers of this process? What is the reason for the start of the Campi Flegrei activation? What mechanism triggers the eruption of a supervolcano? Campi Flegrei is the volcano of the cycle, and its explosion, like a detonator, will set off a chain of explosions of all other volcanoes. It will be a catastrophe not only for Italy but for the whole of humanity. https://lnkd.in/ephke82f https:// youtu.be/5WDf2DN-8Sc #CreativeSociety #GlobalCrisis #Italy #CampiFlegrei #volcano #Pozzuoli #eruption #danger #Europe #ThursdayThoughts

Galapagos-Antarctica-Okavango Tour Operator / Advisor on World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve matters
𝗟𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄 - 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟯 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 A fissure opened on up on the uninhabited island of Fernandina in #Galapagos on the 8th of March (just one week after we sailing by - bad luck!). Such lava flows in Galapagos usually don't last very long, from a few days to a week or two. This one is going on to nearly 4 weeks now... If it continues for a bit longer, the lava will reach the sea, at which point things get even more exciting. #volcano Cultural and Natural Heritage Tours
