This update is long overdue, but I thought it would be nice to give a quick update on URU's progress with the garment manufacturing process and some lessons learned from our recent experiences: 1) Flats do NOT equal reality: We FINALLY made our first run of prototypes for the garment for all our designs. Even though we used similar colors we could find in wholesale fabric shops, our drawings did not match our exact vision. We noticed there are many improvements to be made to our garments: The sizing of the garment is not perfect, the colorways may not be what we want in the final product, the garment construction can be done cleaner, etc. Nonetheless, we are excited to make the changes over the course of the next couple of weeks. 2) Be Patient: Even though the vision may not have come out exactly as you thought, you have to realize that a product develops over multiple iterations. It took us a LONG time to get to this point with a full prototype run of all our designs. You can not be discouraged, continue to iterate. 3) Focus up: When you have a lot of momentum building a product, you cannot be the reason it slows down. The good thing here is when you build something you truly care about, the grind is fun and rewarding! Join our email list at https://lnkd.in/eYYr4VXN to stay up to date on news. Embracing Sustainable Fashion with Photochromatic Fabric! I am happy to share my thoughts on an incredible innovation in the world of fashion that not only captivates your senses but also promotes sustainability. Today, I want to highlight the groundbreaking work of Kunihiko Morinaga, a visionary designer who has brought us photochromatic fabric, a remarkable material that changes color when exposed to UV and sunlight. Picture a fabric that adapts and transforms its hues, creating a stunning visual experience that reflects our dynamic environment. So, how does this remarkable fabric contribute to sustainability? Let's explore a few key aspects: Reducing Chemical Dyes: Traditional textile manufacturing relies heavily on chemical dyes, which often have detrimental effects on the environment. By utilizing photochromatic properties, the photochromatic fabric eliminates the need for excessive dyeing processes, reducing the overall carbon footprint. Extended Lifespan: The ability of this fabric to change color based on sunlight exposure adds a unique dimension to garments. As a result, fashion enthusiasts can enjoy a versatile wardrobe without the need to constantly purchase new items. Energy Efficiency: The color-changing effect of the fabric relies solely on the power of the sun's UV rays. By harnessing natural energy, this innovation reduces the reliance on conventional energy sources and decreases the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and operations. Sparking Conversations: The photochromatic fabric serves as a conversation starter, drawing attention to sustainable fashion practices. By wearing these transformative garments, individuals can inspire discussions about eco-friendly alternatives, encouraging others to consider their own choices and make more sustainable fashion decision. #sustainablefashion #sustainability #innovation #fashionrevolution #garments #textile
