CloudWatch Metrics are the foundation of monitoring in AWS. They represent the raw data collected from various AWS resources and are used to track the performance of these resources over time. Metrics are generated at regular intervals, typically every five minutes, and they provide a wide range of information, including CPU utilization, memory usage, network traffic, and custom application-specific metrics. These metrics serve as the building blocks for creating monitoring solutions and gaining insights into resource behavior. You can visualize these metrics on the CloudWatch console, create custom dashboards, and use them as the basis for setting up alarms and other monitoring tools. CloudWatch Alarms are designed to act upon the data collected by CloudWatch Metrics. Alarms enable you to define specific conditions based on metric values over time, and when these conditions are met, actions are triggered. This means that alarms offer a more dynamic and responsive aspect of monitoring. You can set thresholds for metrics, and when these thresholds are breached or met, alarms can take actions like sending notifications, auto-scaling resources, or even executing custom actions in response to changing conditions. By creating alarms, you turn metric data into actionable insights, making it a central component for maintaining the health and availability of AWS resources.

Configuring Subscriptions and Azure Resource Manager Resources. What are the benefits of understanding the management of Azure Subscriptions and Azure Resource Manager resources? -Team members can effectively understand, create policies and manage subscriptions by creating management groups, identifying regions, determining service limits and quotas, and applying resource tagging. Brief explanation of region pairs in Azure. -In Azure, region pairs are two separate Azure regions that are paired together to provide geographic redundancy and high availability for resources and data. End users/clients can choose to store data in region pairs. Implementing this strategy ensures data is safe and available even when one of the regions is adversely affected. Azure region pairs offer several benefits to end users, some of which include -Improved availability and disaster recovery. - Reduced latency and faster access times. - Increased scalability and simplified data replication. - Compliance with data residency requirements. - Enhanced security and reduced risk of data loss. -Region pairs is a strategic choice for companies striving to build more resilient, scalable and high-performing applications and services while simplifying data management and compliance. Azure region pairs are also geographically matched, except for Brazil South which is paired with a region in a different geography (South Central US). Why do we really need management groups? Management groups have a hierarchical structure in Azure that allows you organize and manage multiple subscriptions under a single entity. Can we create budget alerts to inform us when we get to a certain limit of expenditure? -The creation of budget alerts prompts the subscription owners/ contributors of the users approaching the Azure spending limit. This helps the personnel in charge take proactive actions to avoid overspending. You can also create budget alerts in Azure to notify you when your expenditure reaches a certain limit depending on the allocated funds for resource creation. Azure Cost estimator and Azure budgets allows you set budget limits and alerts based on cost or usage thresholds. Ultimately, effective management of Azure subscriptions and resources are crucial for optimizing cloud infrastructure and cost control.
