Want to land your first freelance client? 🤔 I've noticed that when we ask experienced freelancers for advice, they often stress the importance of communication skills, building a portfolio, and consistently applying for new jobs. However, after spending two years in the industry, what I learned is it's very crucial to be selective about the jobs you apply for. No one is likely to hire a newcomer to build their business website 🙂 Instead, focus on applying for jobs where clients need help with specific issues that you can resolve quickly and effectively. For instance, a job title like: "I can't ssh into my EC2 instance :)" could be a good fit. #jobs #freelance #learning

Ways to find freelancing opportunities as a developer 1) Use Fiverr or Upwork- This one is obvious as these boards boast thousands of new projects posted per day. The downside is, you will often be competing with a lot of other people for opportunities 2) Join Slack Groups - There is likely one or several public slack groups dedicated to software development in your city. Join these groups and keep an eye on them for people looking to hire help in software development 3) Reach Out to Your Network - Oftentimes, people in your network have ideas on projects they want to do, but haven't taken the step to post it anywhere. If you reach out, you might give them the nudge to clarify the project and get started. #freelancing #softwaredevelopment
