The iconic logos of Puma, Jaguar, and Slazenger feature animals (a puma, a jaguar, and a panther, respectively) leaping towards the left. Why left? When a character or symbol in a logo or design is depicted jumping or moving to the right, it often conveys several positive connotations and symbolic meanings. It signifies Progress and Advancement, Action and Dynamism, Optimism and Confidence, Flow and Continuity, etc. I would design it the other way ie facing toward the right. There must be some thought behind these which I fail to get. Can you tell me what could be the logical explanation for it? PUMA Group Slazenger JLR #logo #designing #rightleft

Why are the animals facing to the left in the logos? Interesting question with a simple answer which uses both logic and emotion. Logic: We read from left to right so you will first encounter the face of the animal. If it were facing to the right you would start with the tail. So logically you would want to start with the face rather than the tail. Emotion: When you first see the animal's face you feel it is approaching you so it makes a deeper impact on you than if it were facing to the right where you would have felt less because the animal was going away from you. Imagine you were in a jungle with a tiger jumping towards you or away from you. Which one will make a deeper impact on you :) What do you think? www.paintminds.com PaintMinds Consulting Pvt. Gary Anderson: The importance of an overlooked F1 design area https://lnkd.in/eKKSmdYq Four teams have introduced modifications either to the halo fairing or the cockpit headrest in recent races, underlining how aerodynamically sensitive the area around the driver’s head is. Mercedes added what it described as a pair of “small flick” vanes behind the halo in Shanghai, designed to control the airflow as it passes out of the cockpit - and therefore improve the airflow to the rear wing. Williams made a small modification to the shape of the fairing on the central part of the halo where it separates into the two parts that curve outwards from the cockpit. The point of it is to improve aero efficiency and the airflow to the rear wing and beam wing. And RB modified the shape of the headrest behind the driver's head on the basis that it reduced airflow separation. This was followed by Alpine realigning its halo vanes on either side of its cockpit in Monaco to better distribute airflow to the rear wing and beam wing at the back of the car. None of these changes are visibly big, but the fact four teams made modifications proves how much there is to gain in compensating for the inconvenience of having to accommodate the driver’s head. And this has been a significant challenge for many years. Looking back to 1996, F1 introduced regulations requiring a compulsory headrest that went around the sides of the driver’s helmet to protect their heads from lateral impacts. That led to some very different solutions being introduced. Ross Brawn, then at Benetton, wasn’t very complimentary about the design that Adrian Newey at Williams and we at Jordan came up with (...).

Most motorcycle reviews are either about new models just being released or retrospective reviews of vintage or classic models. Even “long-term” reviews of contemporary models tend to be somewhat limited in terms of only a few thousand miles or mere weeks or months of commuter bike duty. If you’re like me, when you lay out some major cash for a new motorcycle and tend to keep bikes beyond the warranty period, you may wonder about long-term durability. With my Triumph T214 Bonneville SE having reached ten years in service, we thought it might be worth taking a look how that contemporary retro-styled Triumph model has fared. Here’s my story: https://lnkd.in/gFnQ_HJ2

The very first Enzo shown on North American soil; debuted by Ferrari at the 2003 Cavallino Classic. Finished in the striking color combination of Rosso Corsa over a cabin fully trimmed with Pelle Nero upholstery and finished with red gauge faces, this important Enzo is one of three examples (130270, 130688, 131026) ordered new by New York’s Caiola family—of which numerous members are within the marque’s inner circle of preeminent VIPs. Following its Cavallino debut, and several other interceding non-driving press duties, it was finally delivered to the Caiolas via Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley, New York on 20 August 2003. Unofficial tallies compiled by Ferrari researchers note that this Enzo is still among the first of those 118 US-market Enzo examples delivered between 2003 and 2005. As unique and captivating today as it was in 2002, the Ferrari Enzo continues to hold sway with collectors and supercar enthusiasts, unmistakably carrying the mantle of Maranello’s defining millennial hypercar while serving as the genetic link between the sensuous F50 and the hybrid-powered LaFerrari. Bearing all the hallmarks of the model’s superlative qualities, including advanced Formula One-inspired engineering, aerodynamically perfected coachwork design by Pininfarina, and truly visceral performance, the Dare to Dream Collection’s Enzo is ideal for any collectors seeking to complete their galleries of Ferrari’s legendary modern “Big Five” hypercars. The sale will take place 31 May–1 June 2024 in the collection’s home, a 17,000 square foot exhibition space in the heart of Toronto.
