Today's introduction of groundbreaking legislation in the U.S. to require transparency in the use of copyrighted works to train #GenAI models is acknowledgement of the important role that provenance plays for #ResponsibleAI.
Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) is a proud supporter of Rep. Schiff's important legislation which would require transparency regarding use of copyrighted works used to train GenAI models. By requiring disclosure of copyrighted materials that are used to train AI systems, the Generative AI Copyright Disclosure Act will advance the development of reliable and trustworthy AI, which is a key part of supporting the US creative community and the economy.

Why AI developers are being sued – New England Biz Law Update: Plaintiffs are filing suits against AI developers, claiming that AI copies and combines existing protected works without creating anything new. The legality of these copied uses varies, with some cases ruling in favor of fair use and others against it. AI developers are not immune to lawsuits under the Communications Decency Act, and authors and image owners have filed suits alleging copyright infringement. Determinations on fair use and infringement will be made on a case-by-case basis. Some solutions proposed include clear court rulings, immunity laws, or AI developers paying royalties to copyright holders. - Artificial Intelligence topics! #ai #artificialintelligence #intelligenzaartificiale
