Thrilled to share a pivotal moment in our journey at Confluent! The perennial question of promoting a standout individual contributor to a coaching role loomed large, balancing the risk of losing a good IC against the uncertainty of a subpar coach. The decision to appoint me as the Israeli Regional Director in April 2023 was no exception. To spice things up, Murphy's Law kicked in: AE changes, a global IT slowdown, and a heartbreaking war with #HamasisISIS. Talk about pressure! But here's the winning formula: Leadership magic: Huge shoutout to Fred Crehan's incredible mentorship and Richard Timperlake unwavering support. Teamwork makes the dream work: Ohad Israeli, Omer Porus, Moshe Blumberg, Daniel PETISME, and the entire AE squad; Liat Davidman 🎗️Idan Tal Ronnie Altman and Shamir Segal – you guys are rockstars, going above and beyond, never giving up! A product customers love: We wouldn't be here without our amazing solution that consistently delights users. And guess what? It's getting even better in FY'24 with Flink and a full fledged DSP✨ The result? #TeamIsrael overachieved our target! Most AEs crushed their quotas, and three teammates – Ohad, Omer, and Idan – joined the prestigious President's Club! In addition to Ronnie nabbing the EMEA Rookie of the Year award. We couldn't have achieved it without collaboration of our partners; Liron Ben Yosef from KPMG, Alexey Saltovski from Matrix, Golan Nahum from Twingo and Yanai Milstein from Aman group. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team and partners—this success is a testament to the fact that #IsraelAlwaysDelivers🇮🇱. I am incredibly proud of each one of you! Now, let's keep pushing the boundaries in FY'24! The best is yet to come. #Kafka #DataInMotion #Cloud #growthmindset #innovation #customersuccess

Happy Sunday, everyone! 🌞 As we all take a moment to relax and recharge for the upcoming week, I wanted to share some reflections on the ever-evolving world of data streaming and how it’s reshaping businesses. At Confluent, I have the privilege of working as an Account Executive, where my role goes beyond just sales – I strive to be a trusted advisor to our clients. In this rapidly advancing tech landscape, staying ahead means not just adopting new technologies but truly understanding how they can transform your business. Here are a few key insights I’ve gathered: 1. Real-time Data is a Game Changer: The ability to process and analyze data in real time is revolutionizing decision-making processes. 2. Scalability is Crucial: As businesses grow, so does their data. Scalable solutions are not just an option; they’re a necessity. 3. Security and Compliance are Paramount: In the world of data, security can never be an afterthought. But enough from me – I’d love to hear from you! What are your thoughts on these trends? How do you see data streaming impacting your industry? Let’s start a conversation and learn from each other. Feel free to connect with me for more in-depth discussions. Here’s to a fruitful week ahead! #DataStreaming #TechInsights #SundayReflections #Confluent

HashiCorp is getting acquired by IBM. For $6.4B ($35/share). I love HashiCorp! Incredible products. Stellar team. But take a moment to check out my two charts. Chart #1 shows that this is almost a 2x return from November. Looks like ~10x projected revenues, which is pretty good for a company growing 15% and with modestly negative FCF margins. But now click over to Chart #2. The price is a TWO-THIRDS decline from late 2021 (right after IPO). Perhaps I’m just pointing out the obvious… But PRIVATE SaaS companies should take heed. It’s a VISCERAL reminder… Yes, let's all rejoice that valuations have moved up, the IPO market is showing signs of life, and M&A is perking up… But don't forget that we are still worlds away from 2021. Those declines in growth and GTM efficiencies... coupled with higher interest rates are still HUGE factors right now. #SaaS #metrics #valuations

3 months in at Confluent. One of the main focuses at any new company is building pipeline Moving into a new business/industry with new personas/challenges/tech etc presents a number of challenges Having worked in the sales space, which provides most of the "silver bullet content," I was surprised at how much didn't work. Same for all my older content as well - sorry. Moving into a new company or thinking about it? Here are 3 things that have translated well when builidng pipeline, 3 things that haven't, 1 thing that surprised me and then 1 more thing that worked Pre-outbound research Articulating point of views/hypotheses Getting on the phone Things that have not translated at all, perhaps industry specific who knows… Emails - which sucks as this was probably my POD once upon a time. From what you read on LinkedIn, seems like a challenge for most The whole 10/20/30 second thing, and I have always found this. I like saying "how is your day going?" and then asking them if I can tell them why I rang. It worked before, its working better now and I like it Point of views/hypothesis being too specific. Generally, VPs of Sales = 1 - 3 people who all care about the same thing(ish). This industry may have 20+ in similar roles and 2 of them may have been assigned a project that relates to Confluent at a time. In this case, being broad first then info grabbing or drilling down into specifics have worked. Being specific too early led to a lot of quick conversations - "Sorry, I dont work on the stock management. I work in the fraud part - thanks for calling" One thing thats surprised me with how much it has worked. LinkedIn. I have never sent so many voice notes, messages or connected with so many people on LinkedIn so I'm leaning into that. Which reminds me of one more that has translated well. Value. Alot of my personas have listed skills or shoutouts, taking a minute to read skills they have and finding an article related takes a 1 minute to do but returns a fair amount Welcome to my Tedtalk
