It’s Cicada x Tech23 day! 🎉
Australia’s longest running #deeptech conference is back and it is happening today at Cicada Innovations’ HQ where 23 of the country’s most promising deep tech startups are sharing their vision on how they’re changing the world for the better, one #innovation at a time. 👏
Instead of its previous pitch-style format, the 23 startups are presenting ‘TED Talk-style’ addressing the five major thematics: Ending Waste, The Rebuilt Environment, Shifting the Mindset in Medicine, Co-designing with Nature, and Reimagining Time.
In his speech, The Hon Ed Husic MP, Minister for Industry and Science, acknowledged Tech23’s role in “championing Australia’s most promising high-growth and deep tech companies for the past 13 years” and recognised Cicada Innovations CEO Sally-Ann Williams’s leadership (a “national treasure”, no less! ✨) in supporting deep tech companies as they go through the arduous development journey.
He also highlighted the critical role of “high level science” in Australia’s future prosperity and the importance of “thinking in systems, not silos.” 🤝👫
As Minister Husic puts it, “This success isn’t a solo endeavour. In fact, it is the intersection between us as designers, as builders, users, thinkers, creators, and lawmakers that we usually gain the greatest insights.” 💪
We’re honoured to be a part of this event as a long-time partner of Cicada and as an event supporter, alongside the NSW Government, Main Sequence Ventures, Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources, CSIRO, University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, South Eveleigh, The University of Queensland, Addisons, CFO Plus, IP Australia, and Radium Capital .
And thank you to David Swan for your amazing coverage of all things tech, and your long-standing support for Cicada, #deeptech, and Australia’s future.
