As I reflect on 2023, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some of the articles I have written this year. I selected the topics for these articles with the lens of addressing some of the many landmines that this year has presented and that have made DEI transformation work even more challenging. In the past year I have addressed a variety DEI trends such as: -          Colorism; External DEI advisory boards, Alignment of DEI & Corporate responsibility; AI and the implications for DEI -         I also addressed external trends that are impacting DEI work. Some of these include: the relationship between DEI and HR; the SCOTUS affirmative action decision and how to sustain DEI during economic downturns Some of my articles have been published in online magazines such as Cutter Consortium, an Arthur D. Little community and Profiles in Diversity Journal. From the desk of Dr. Gerilyn Davis: Happy Wednesday! I wish you a joyful day! Our countdown begins to 2024. I am thrilled to be able to experience another year. I have been in full edit mode on my book coming out in 2024. I love the editing process; it is almost like time travel. I am reviewing the thoughts and perspectives that I wrote earlier this year. Yesterday, my neighbors were asking me about the book, inquiring about what it was about. I shared the title with them and a brief synopsis. I explained to them that it centers on leveraging who we are to create human connection while sharing our uniqueness. It is grounded in our ability to equip ourselves to foster inclusion. I emphasized that there is so much human connection readily available. I hope this book reminds us how to be the inclusion we wish to see. Even as I am rereading it, it's reminding me. After the conversation, I began to think to myself. Why would someone be inclusive? What value does it have to make them desire the experience? I focus on inclusion to continue recognizing that I am not alone in any of this. The aloneness is an illusion. People invest in me, and I invest in people. I often revel in how many people have played a role in my becoming. I even get emotional about it because I am so appreciative of so many. I intend to share the joy and the value of inclusion with others. I view this as my life purpose.
