Cool roofs are a cost effective measure to reduce the effects of extreme heat. Cool roofs reflect sunlight and absorb less heat. We are piloting our tool for cool roofs insights in multiple US cities to help evaluate and accelerate the adoption of mitigation measures.
We're excited to announce the pilot of our tool for cool roofs insights in the U.S. cities of Austin, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, and Miami-Dade County. If you’re reading this, you’ve likely experienced or know somebody that has experienced the terrible heat waves happening across the U.S., Europe, and other parts of the globe. Without action, heat waves have the potential to negatively impact the health of millions of people. Responding effectively to heat requires a combination of short and long-term strategies. Cool roofs can be a powerful, cost-effective way to keep homes, businesses and cities cooler and reduce the impact of adverse heat effects on people. We are leveraging our AI algorithms and aerial imagery to help cities and counties map what areas would benefit most from cool roofs. We look forward to partnering with Jane Gilbert and Miami-Dade County, the City of Austin, the City of Los Angeles, and City of Phoenix to help them plan, advocate, and evaluate ways to increase cool roofs adoption. This is not nearly as much of a stretch as we might think it could be, and how easy would it be to demonize those homeowners who simply want a cottage-like oasis in their back yards? We need to be really careful what we wish for, folks.
