As we step into 2024, a common sentiment emerges: "I'd do anything to avoid dealing with a recruiter." Before the eye rolls begin and accusations of bias and defensiveness fly, let me be clear: I get it. I share your frustrations. The recruitment industry has long been crying out for a transformative overhaul and is currently, regrettably, causing more issues than it resolves. Too many agencies are staffed with under-qualified consultants, judged by misguided KPIs, and driven by misaligned incentives. At its core, we're witnessing an unprecedented level of unprofessionalism, negligence, and, frankly, greed. Yet, this isn't a call to write off the entire sector. This does not mean we allow the bad apples (all be it there's a lot of them) to spoil the bunch. Do your due diligence when selecting a recruitment partner; you'll clearly see the difference in quality. Integrate them into the essence of your company culture, share what matters most to you and your brand, and watch them become advocates for your vision. Collaborate to craft a recruitment strategy that's tailor-made for your needs, recognising that a one-size-fits-all approach is futile. And, crucially, approach this partnership with respect and gratitude. In doing so, you secure not just a service provider, but a partner for life.

"Maria, can we see more? just to compare..." Reflecting on the hiring process today. 🤔 It's crucial for hiring managers to recognize the value of a good candidate when they see one. Constantly seeking more candidates for the sake of comparison not only slows down the recruitment process but also sends a message about decision-making incapability. ⏳ Time is of the essence in securing top talent, and the risk of losing a standout candidate increases with prolonged indecision. Let's strive for efficiency and timely decisions in our hiring strategies! 📚 This long bank holiday weekend, I decided to visit my local library and stumbled upon an insightful book on talent acquisition by Mary E. Collins. One quote particularly resonated with me: "LinkedIn's real success has been breaking the link between the traditional cycle of employer, recruiter, and employee. Previously, agencies had an 'information arbitrage' over employers, due to their proprietary databases of candidates. Now, anyone could search for potential candidates, whether they had applied for a job or not, allowing hiring companies access to passive candidates who were not actively searching for a role, but whose credentials and experience matched the hiring company's requirements." - Mary E. Collins, Recruiting Talented People. We're making it simpler and more accessible for every business to connect with the right talent, breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive and efficient recruitment process.

Finding the right candidate for a role can be challenging, especially lately. Many organizations are now slowing down the hiring process to better understand their candidates and see if they are a cultural fit for the organization. This shift has also helped because it gives both candidate and company more opportunities to evaluate each other and find the win-win.
