Driving Change for Women's Livelihood, Health and Environment | Empowering Leader | Entrepreneur | IIM C
🌟 Empowering Change in Varanasi 🌟 Today marks a pivotal day for the rural women and girls of Varanasi, as we proudly kick off a legal awareness camp under the esteemed project banner of the Digital and Financial Integrated Vocational Program (DFIVP), organized by ASMI and generously supported by Paytm. 🔍 Why This Matters? In an era where empowerment is key to unlocking potential, knowledge of one’s legal rights and financial independence stands as the cornerstone of true liberation. Yet, for many in the rural expanses of our nation, these critical pieces of information remain out of reach. The DFIVP aims to bridge this gap, ensuring every woman and girl in Varanasi can stand tall, equipped with the knowledge to forge her path. 📚 What’s Happening at the Camp? Guided by a team of respected advocates, today’s camp is more than an event; it’s a movement. These legal luminaries are dedicating their time to enlighten our attendees on various legal matters that directly impact their lives, from property rights to personal safety, and beyond. But it’s not just about imparting knowledge; it’s about sparking conversations, encouraging questions, and fostering a supportive community where every woman and girl feels heard and empowered. 💡 Join Us in Making a Difference This initiative represents a significant step forward in our collective journey towards gender equality and financial independence for all. By educating and empowering one woman, we light a torch that can illuminate the path for many others. 🙌 Your Support Matters Whether you’re near or far, your support can make a world of difference. Share this message, spread the word, and let’s together contribute to a future where every woman and girl in Varanasi, and beyond, has the knowledge and power to shape her destiny. #Empowerment #LegalAwareness #RuralDevelopment #WomenEmpowerment #FinancialIndependence #ASMI #Paytm #DFIVP #Varanasi Asmi Janhavi Deoskar Sarita Upadhyay Shambhavi Kanodia Shobha Lal Sangharsh Kesar Shivali Gawande Gyani Lal Zaid Khan Nishad Mohandas Neha Pandhare Neha Mahajan

@indiaasianbridge conducts intensive training with boys in schools, using creative methods like a customized snake and ladders game to talk about gender-based violence and its impact. In this game for example, 'education' is the ladder, 'sexual harassment' is the 'snake' and tough choices like a scholarship outside the village add depth to the challenges girls face. As the boys play, they step into the shoes of the women and girls around them, realizing the hurdles they navigate daily. It's more than just a game; it's a conversation starter, anchoring us in reality and prompting discussions about gender issues in our families and villages. Asian Bridge India (ABI) aims to improve the living conditions of people affected by poverty and violence. ABI conducts its activities in the greater Varanasi area in Uttar Pradesh with urban and rural communities. They are part of Shadhika’s Men Against Gender-Based Violence Initiative. Head to their profile to learn more about the gender justice work they do to combat #GenderBasedViolence and why their work is more important now than ever. This year, let's honor the spirit of #16DaysOfActivism by making a donation that amplifies impact. Today is the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT). The first IDAHOBIT was held in 2005 and is a day to celebrate the progress that has been made for LGBTQIA+ equality, while also raising awareness of the discrimination still faced today. May 17 marks the day that homosexuality was removed from the World Health Organisation (WHO) of Diseases in 1990. Since then, progression of LGBTQIA+ equality has been slow. 1978 – First Mardi Gras pride march was held in Sydney – met by significant police violence 1997 – Tasmania was the last jurisdiction in Australia to decriminalise homosexuality – meaning that most of our population were alive when homosexuality was illegal 2017 – The Marriage Equality plebiscite was held – 4.8 million people voted against Marriage Equality As a country we still have a way to go: 68% of LGBTQIA+ employees are not out to everyone at work; 2 in 3 LGBTQIA+ youth experience abuse due to their identity; 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months. In the Northern Territory, regardless of your sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or sex characteristics, you are protected from discrimination and harassment under the new reforms to the NT Anti-Discrimination Act. These reforms were strongly advocated for by the community to create a safe and inclusive Territory which celebrates our diversity. We are proud that the Territory is one of a few jurisdictions across the country that protects the rights of LGBTIQA+ students, staff and service users in the education system, and that there is now a positive duty on all organisations across the Territory to proactively prevent discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people. For more information and support visit NT AIDS & Hepatitis Council Inc. #NTAHC #IDAHOBIT or our website www.adc.nt.gov.au

Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and the Gender Action and Learning System (#GALS) are proven ways to support household #financial capacity building, the development of household business/action plans, and #womensempowerment. The VSLA-CHILD program empowers #farmers and communities to better manage their finances while encouraging greater diversity and inclusion. When combined with GALS, #VSLAs can advance women’s empowerment through financial #inclusion and literacy. Household Development Plans (see image) are the final products of GALS training. They are actionable plans that guide the training participants to attain future economic and social (gender) targets and ensure that children are protected from #childlabour. In #Ghana, 69% of those surveyed said that women’s roles and involvement in household decision-making improved because of the VSLA-CHILD project. Dearest connection; We are a blind organization which is based in the Shillong city state of Meghalaya in the northeast of india. We are very sad to announce that to you most of the people towards here are not able to understand the capability of the blind people. They always thought that the blind people cannot do anything in this world. So, if we need anything they used to ask someone who can see to witness on behalf of us. You cannot imagine that even though the people which you think and see are very powerful people. But they don’t know anything about the rights of the persons with disability. For instance, we have the problem with the State Bank of India which is in Shillong city itself only and it is very high ranking (Malki Branch). But they are refused the thumb impression which is the signature of the blind people and they cannot do their signature with the Pen because they are visually impaired. That is the corporate account which is the bank account of our organization. We want to change the signatory of our bank account of our organization and all the trustees who are visually impaired. Because one of our trustees who was sighted died and then we have to change the signatory in the bank. We have brought the resolution which has been passed by the board of trustees. But the trustees did the signature with the thumb impression so the bank has refused it. I don’t know if this is appropriate for the bank to do that with their customers, Especially with the people with disabilities. This is not just because our orgself anization has faced it even though the individuals are also faced with so many times in different schedules branches of the banks. There are only kind people who will understand and stand for the rights of the blind people to protect all of the rights of the persons with disabilities as well. Actually we need to fix this issue so that all of the persons with disabilities will not face any challenges in the future with the same issue. But we need great lawyers to deal with it. In Shillong itself, we do not find the right lawyer who can help us. Is there anyone who can advise me on this? Please text or call me. #Jitendradkhar #Dr.BunilKumar #rights #personswithdisabilities #issues #Lawyers #help #shillongmeghalaya #visuallyimpaired #challenges
