𝗧Ü𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗬𝗘-𝗘𝗨𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗔 𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗪𝗔𝗬: 𝗔 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗬 During the opening event of the ‘Risorsa Mare’ Forum organised by The European House-Ambrosetti in Trieste on the 14th and 15th September, Enrico Samer could not fail to highlight the role of the Türkiye-Europe Sea Highway - operated by DFDS and Ulusoy Sealines Management S.A. - which today more than ever is a preferred route connecting the Eastern Mediterranean basin to Europe through Trieste, and vice versa. It is a structured and successful business model, capable of guaranteeing the competitiveness of the port of Trieste which is also based on a thick network of rail connections, and of the country as a whole. #samercoshipping #seahighways #Trieste #risorsamare

New transshipment networks designed to mitigate the impact of diversions in the Red Sea have created wider congestion at Mediterranean ports. In this week's container rate update, Peter Sand notes that as long as Red Sea diversions remain in place and carriers attempt to mitigate increased sailing distances through transshipment networks then west Mediterranean ports will continue to feel the brunt. There is also no suggestion that decreasing demand for ocean freight container shipping from the Far East to Mediterranean will help to ease congestion – quite the opposite. Read more on record transshipments in Barcelona, low levels of schedule reliability (two in every five ships arriving on time from Singapore to Barcelona...) and why the increasing use of transshipments, designed to improve the service for shippers, is coming at a cost: https://lnkd.in/eMSD8HH3 #schedulereliability #transshipments #oceanfreight #redsea

✔️Are you interested in enabling Just in Time (JIT) arrivals in your port? ✔️Is your port located in a developing country? ✔️Does your port have at least one container terminal? If your answer to these three questions is yes, the Global Industry Alliance to Support Low Carbon Shipping (Low Carbon GIA) is looking to support one port in enabling Just in Time (JIT) sailing of ships. This could be your port! Interested IMO Member States and their ports are kindly invited to express their interest to participate by completing the questionnaire (included in the Annex of this Circular) to greenvoyage2050@imo.org. The closing date for receipt of Expressions of Interest is 15 May 2024.
