"the financialization of America’s private sector defined benefit system since the 1970s and its replacement by underfunded savings accounts ...[and] the destruction that flowed from that policy-driven disaster" The real solution is the de-financializatoon of pensions, by reversing the policies that are driving that disaster, to wit, the special pleadings for the special interests of capital market professionals in seizing control of the vast sums of worker savings aggregated to provision the pension promise, fooling the world into believing that Growth in GDP is an economic imperative to drive growth in NPV (share prices) to drive growth in NAV (portfolio values) to drive growth in AUM (assets under management) to drive growth in fees and profits for Asset Managers and other market professionals, on the false promise that more money for them will mean a better quality of life for us. It doesn't.
