12 years in recruitment today. You get less for murder. I still remember that bus trip on the first day to Chiswick from Shepherds Bush and not knowing what to expect (I quickly learned it was easier and far healthier to walk). It feels like yesterday! Much has changed along the way, particularly some of the methods of engagement and candidate attraction, but at heart, it's a network game, if you're not speaking to people and building relationships every day, you'll get nowhere. CALLING RECRUITERS / POC IN THE WORKFORCE! I have no idea what to choose! I am Hispanic, Black and White. Therefore, the "Two or More Races (Not Hispanic or Latino)" option does not work for me even though it is closest. I do not want to feel like I am forgoing a part of my heritage as I apply for jobs, but it is often the case that I am only allowed one option. One of my big goals in the workplace are to promote diversity and make sure that all voices are heard, from the beginning of the job application process until retirement. My goal is to foster inclusive settings where people from all backgrounds feel appreciated and thrilled to share their distinct viewpoints. I want to make a lasting difference by establishing environments that provide members of underrepresented communities an equal chance to prosper. We all are a part of making the world better, so let's do it. So, before this recruiting issue is solved, I want to hear your answer: What should I choose? Would it look good, as a candidate, to send an email explaining my identity? Let me know!

LinkedIn Family! I am posting this for whoever may need to see it today, maybe this moment. There seems to be an overwhelming number of people posting lately about their inability to find a job. Now compound that with ageism. Yes, ageism is a real thing, and in some companies, an unwritten rule although illegal. Normally, I try to look at the world through a different lens despite the adversities and racism I have faced throughout my life. My faith helps me to do so. Imagine though, the feeling of despair you would have, when you compound the effects of racism with ageism. As if one weren't bad enough... When I worked as a Talent Acquisition Sourcer, no one was excluded on the basis of age. In fact, their wealth of knowledge and acquired interpersonal skills were always a plus in my book! I'm sharing this article in the hopes that even one person may be enlightened and subsequently moved to make a different choice, if it is in their power to do so. Become an advocate at the very least for those you believe are truly qualified. If you are the job seeker, do not give up!
