Using social data and community feedback we saw our audiences asking to see real people's stories and relatable family history finds. We launched a competition, with the winner to star in their very own family history adventure. Our winner, the lovely Janet from Yorkshire, embarked on a quest with us to discover more about her 2x great-grandmother and namesake, Janet. Her poignant story is a reminder that family history doesn’t have to just be about watching celebrities learn of royal roots. It’s about the living, breathing people who came before us, and how their stories impact our present, and our future. What did we find? Watch the video to find out 😊 🎥 #familyhistory #socialmedia #genealogy #sociallistening #datainsights

The greatest single virtue of being a human is empathy. And, the empathy has nothing to do with how more educated or less educated one is. Even animals have been seen with traits that resemble empathy. What is alarming to us is the growing empathy in animals and shrinking of that one in humans and specially the educated ones. This may be due to these distorted visionaries who have a twisted and crooked as well as cooked philosophies tailored to suit their ruthless drama covered deep within their Web of treacherous machinations. Nature, however, is far more superior in her plans and outwit them secretly by creating the delicate balance of matching their pathology with her magnanimity and wholeheartedness. Machines are new addition to this game. Soon, we will see machines with empathy too! Humans! Where will you hide if all around you are there to outsmart your selfishness!!??

Today, I had the wonderful opportunity to present a project I created to Introduction to Advertising with Meghnaa Tallapragada! This project was created during my experience on the Rocking the World Klein Global Opportunities trip I attended in January, organized by Hannah Braid, M.S.Ed. and Allie K Miller. The text for our course was Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson. It dives deep into the creation and reinforcement of caste systems, examining the caste system of India, the Holocaust, and Slavery in the U.S. Meghnaa, David W. Brown, Dana Saewitz, and the rest of our class, traveled to Washington D.C. to visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Then, I created my project, titled Fatphobias Roots in Anti-Blackness, in which I explore and define many concepts. What is fatphobia, how does it relate to caste, and why should we care about it? Where did this bias come from? This led me to explore the roots of fatphobia and find that it historically stems from anti-blackness. The end goal was to connect Fatphobia, Anti-Blackness, and Caste systems together to form a more intentional view of how we view the world. The most important part of this process is questioning how can we disrupt this caste system? What systematic barriers are oppressing larger and marginalized bodies? How do you or the people around you talk about body image? Are you calling out the anti-fat rhetoric in discussions with friends, families, doctors, etc.? Are fat folks demonized while thin bodies prevail? How do you see fat bodies portrayed in the media? Do you consume media that center fat bodies in a positive light? Where their bodies, insecurities, and pursuit of becoming smaller are NOT the main plot line? Since Caste is all about disrupting, I ask you to carry these questions with you. Purposefully take the time to examine how the Caste system and fatphobia cloud your view of the world. And if you have some time, take a look at my full project linked below. Once you see these things, be proactive. Challenge them. Call them out. Disrupt! Here is the link to my project which is located on our courses gallery website! https://lnkd.in/eHqZFJ2a

In the Truth number 7 post, we talked about how genes and environment DO contribute to the development of EDs 💗 But it’s also important to recognize that EDs aren’t solely determined by genes and environment 💗 How do we make sense of people who DON’T develop EDs, despite family history? How do we make sense of those who DO develop EDs with no family history? 💗 EDs are complex beasts, and there are more factors at play 💗 Hashtags: #eatingdisorderawareness #ninetruthsabouteatingdisorders #demystifyingeatingdisorders #eracounseling
