And here's Part II:
Now, I can help my neighbors and my city the most by serving in city government. I again feel called by a higher power to step up. To bring all I have to bear, including my:
- knowledge of local government,
- entrepreneurial & collaborative attitude,
- ability to get things done,
- love of people,
- wide-ranging relationships in the community,
- commitment to ethics,
- progressive ideas for change, and
- desire to serve others.
How will this campaign unfold, you ask?
- I’m legally allowed to start receiving donations on August 8, 2023.
- The primary election will be on March 5, 2024.
- If no candidate gets more than 50%, there will be a general election on November 5, 2024.
- The winner starts this full-time job in January 2025.
During the campaign, I’ll continue working for Catalyze SV. However, I'm handing off my San Jose duties to my colleagues in the spirit of ethical nonprofit governance.
The main theme that has grounded my work for years will also be the center of this campaign: Building Community.
Together, we'll build a community in which we can all:
- afford housing
- feel welcome and safe
- prosper
- experience a healthy environment
- get around easily
- live close to shops, jobs, & green space
- feel in San Jose a sense of joy, history & civic pride
- receive quality city services
- be heard by our city government and understand how we can impact its decisions
To accomplish these things, I will focus on 6 priorities once elected:
1. Reducing the Cost of Housing & the Extent of Homelessness
2. Safer Streets & Smarter Approaches to Public Safety
3. Growing, Celebrating, & Conserving: Improving District 6 Neighborhoods & San Jose
4. A City for All of Us Means More Shared Prosperity
5. An Accessible, Responsive, Transparent City Government
6. A Well-Run District 6 Office Working for You
I pledge to run a campaign of integrity rooted in the issues.
In the weeks ahead, I’m eager to talk more about my ideas for San Jose and hear more of yours too!
