Here are the top observations from the tables of JEE #1 rankers from 1980 to 2024: 1.    Most Common IIT: IIT Bombay had the highest number of JEE #1 rankers, with 15 out of 45 top rankers choosing this institution. 2.    Gender Aggregate: Male dominance is evident, with all 45 top rankers being male. There is a significant gender gap among JEE #1 rankers. 3.    State of Birth Aggregate: Maharashtra produced the most JEE #1 rankers, with 10 top rankers born in this state. Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh also contributed significantly, with 6 and 5 top rankers respectively. 4.    Department Preference: The majority of top rankers chose Computer Science, indicating its popularity and perceived value among the highest achievers. 5.    Current Status and Institutions: Many rankers pursued further education or held positions in prestigious institutions like MIT, Stanford University, ETH Zurich, and Carnegie Mellon University. 6.    Several rankers became entrepreneurs or senior executives in major tech firms and startups. 7.    Top Rankers at MIT: MIT attracted several top rankers for undergraduate or postgraduate studies, emphasizing its global appeal. 8.    Career Paths: A significant number of rankers went into academia and research, contributing to fields such as AI, quantum computing, and theoretical physics. 9.    Entrepreneurial Success: Many rankers founded or held leading roles in successful startups, especially in the tech and AI sectors. Notable examples include Nandan Nilekani (Infosys) and Rajat Gupta (McKinsey & Company). 10.  Government Service: A few rankers chose careers in public service, such as Immadi Prudhvi Tej, who became an Assistant Collector in Andhra Pradesh. 11.  Alma Maters of International Repute: Rankers from IITs frequently pursued advanced degrees at globally renowned institutions, highlighting the seamless transition from top Indian engineering institutes to international academia.

College suicide death rate (SDR) for 10 years. SDR equals number of suicides in a year divided by students' population, multiplied by 1 lakh. Set up a centralised and independent commission of enquiry to probe the past 124 suicide incidents to fix internal accountability in the IIT system and recommend remedial action steps to IIT/NIT Council to prevent emergent mental health crisis in the institutes. 2. IITs/NITs should provide greater flexibility to students in academics thereby reducing academic stress that students face. 3. Initiate health parameter ranking of the colleges and incorporate it in the National Institutes Ranking Framework (NIRF). Health and Students' overall engagement in campus must be added into the framework as a sixth parameter to make support systems students' centric. 4. A Major Misconception about GATE !! This year, the GATE exam for 2024 will be organized by IISc. Many GATE aspirants spend a lot of time trying to analyze the patterns of the previous year's question papers set by IISc. They often analyze to the extent that when IISc prepared the paper last time, they made the X subject tough, but the Z subject easy, or similar types of analysis. This is a complete waste of their time because no single institute creates the GATE paper. It is always collaboratively set by all seven old IITs and IISc. Please refer to the attached screenshot from the official website. The official website says, "IISc Bengaluru is the Organising Institute for GATE 2024. GATE 2024 is being conducted by IISc Bengaluru and seven IITs comprising IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.." IISc is only responsible for organizing the exam. This means they handle website maintenance, form submissions, exam center assignments, and other administrative activities.
