Ind Vs Aus T20 match crossed 15 crore views on #jiocinema 🤯 For reference, the ICC World Cup ODI final match got 5.8 crore views which is maximum on Hotstar in the history of live match viewership. So, how is 15 crores views possible even? Thanks to the product team of JioCinema. Till now, all these platforms used to show the viewers watching the match on their platforms at any given point of time. So, 5.8 crore on Hotstar on World Cup Final means that 5.8 cr people are watching the world cup final at any point of time. While 15 crores number on Jio Cinema is the total views counted so far. So, if I open 5 times the App, see 2 mins every time and close it. Then, the total views counted on JioCinema is 5. That's the trick. I don't know whether this metric is confusing people or does it even have a analytical usage. Even YouTube doesn't count the same person view. Today (3rd Dec 2023) being the election results day for 4 states in India, I had sometime reading an interesting article from ET Page-10 about how Disney Hotstar India could manage World Cup cricket 2023 series along sidelines of watching news channels on election results. Top three interesting points noticed by me from this interesting article written by Sajith Sivanandan President and Head of Disney Hotstar App India:- 1) Viewership Increase 2019-2023->25 mils to 59 mils. 11 times of Aussie population 👍 2) It’s not GenZ or young generation views which took this viewership scale but 40% were from 45+ years old 3) For techies - Disney Hotstar had completely rearchitected the platform from 2019, identified peak moments of spike and done rigorous stress testing tuning with long lead time for preparation before match days, AI Usage for enhancing video clarity along with de-hazing visual quality of the streams and Max view feature in the mobile phone I personally used the app from Mobile as well as from the Smart TV and the quality was truly good.
