The healing process after an injury or surgery can be slow and frustrating, seemingly taking one step forward to take two back. This is because it can be wrought with complications and problems when wound care is left up to family and friends alone instead of being directed and/or completed by skilled medical professionals. At Doctor’s Choice Home Care and Hospice, we utilize the Convatec Solution Wound Care Program, which has been proven to reduce the number of complications, reduce healing time, and have a proven better overall outcome in wound healing. Patients facing the day-to-day challenges of new ostomies experience life-altering challenges. Ostomy can create pouching problems and other issues, requiring specialized products and education to avoid frequent changes and leaking. The Doctor’s Choice Home and Hospice Wound Ostomy Continence Nurses, W.O.C.N are specifically trained to deal with these challenging issues, and their expertise can make all the difference in the healing process for patients struggling with the challenges they are experiencing. Wound care, along with many other services, are commonly provided by home health care professionals, improving the quality of life for at-home patients and their wound-related challenges. https://loom.ly/xLFktqk #WoundCareChallenges #ConvatecSolutionWoundCareProgram #LessComplicationsDuringHealing #Doctor’sChoiceHomeCare&Hospice

"Hospitals running surgeries on weekends to cut waitlists". Health care workers being pushed to meet a target that no person should be waiting more than 1 year for surgery by the end of 2023. In the last 3 months, 145 surgeries have been canned on the day, with patients told "sorry, we've run out of time". Lists are so long that lower priority surgeries are simply not taking place. Our poor healthcare workers, pushed to their limits to try and cut wait lists down. New Zealanders, having to wait longer and longer to be treated, some with no end date in sight. It's a lose-lose for all. Frustration builds from both sides of the table. When you have an illness or injury that needs to be treated, being told your surgery has been cancelled, or that your case isn't important enough, is not fair. Being a healthcare worker and being asked to work weekends to help meet targets, at the sacrifice of your free time/ family time and mental/physical health, is not okay. With my endometriosis, I would have been deemed low-priority, and possibly would still be waiting for surgery. But because I had private medical, I was able to have surgery within a few months and have lived pain free ever since. I urge you, if you are in a position to do so, please consider getting private medical cover for yourself & your family. It gives you quicker access to treatment, and helps free up public wait lists, for people who cannot afford to pay for private cover. https://lnkd.in/gsHtHeFn #healthcare #publichealthsystem #Privatemedicalinsurance

How wanting a full clinic can impede the growth of your private practice. I know a surgeon who was so passionate about giving the best care to his patients, that he: 📅 Let NHS follow-ups book into his private slots 👨⚕️ Saw NHS follow-ups more often than required As you can imagine, he is incredibly popular among his NHS patients. But he also came to me asking: ❓ Why aren’t I seeing more private patients? The simple answer is, he was cannibalising his private slots with NHS patients. You may look at this and think “That’s obvious! I’d never do that!” but it’s an easy trap to fall into. If you have patients that need to see you, and you have empty slots… it’s very easy to be tempted to fill them. You might look at an empty diary in 2 weeks’ time and think “What’s the harm in filling it? At least I’ll have a busy clinic!” But by taking those private slots away you’re making them unavailable to private patients. And private patients often want to be seen anywhere from 48 hours’ time. So by not keeping your private slots open at short notice, they’re unlikely to be filled with private patients at all. I guess the moral of my story is: Hold your nerve! 😬 Don’t let the desire for a full clinic accidentally prevent private patients from being able to book to see you. ✨ Tues-a-cation..... ✨ Aldrete Score: 🎯 After a surgery or procedure where sedation or medication is administered, a healthcare provider has to determine a patients readiness to go home or back to their inpatient room assignment. 🎯 The Aldrete score is a system used to determine the readiness of post-anesthesia patients for discharge from the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) to a second-stage recovery area, inpatient hospital room, or home. 🎯 The Aldrete score consists of five criteria, each of which is assigned a rating of 0, 1, or 2 based on the patient's status. The criteria includes: ☑ Activity- able to ambulate ☑ Respiration- breathing normally and independently ☑ Circulation- Blood pressure back to baseline range (pressures before the procedure) ☑ Consciousness- awake ☑ Oxygen saturation- maintaining oxygenation above 92% on room air, or back to baseline ✅ A score of 9 or higher is generally required for discharge from the PACU. The Aldrete score has been widely used in clinical practice and research as a tool to evaluate post-anesthesia patients. However, there are concerns about its validity and reliability, particularly when used as the sole criteria for discharge. Clinical judgement and comparison of patients before procedure activity is crucial in determining the readiness to be discharged. 🔥 #askusforhelptowinyourcase 🔥 ✨ Contact Us Today! ✨ EM: Donisha@thurmannurseconsulting.com Website: https://lnkd.in/gDzucPDt #nurse #dme #nurseobserver #legalnurse #legalnurseconsultant #medicalrecords #medicalrecordsreview #personalinjury #personalinjuryattorney #medicalmalpractice #medicalmalpracticeattorney #attorney #lasvegas #californialawyer

How does the Muve program help providers and ASCs enhance patient experiences and outcomes? ➡ It all starts with our Nurse Navigators. Nurse Navigators serve as a clinical guide and go-to resource for patients from surgery preparation through the first year of recovery. They provide an advanced level of support and education to ensure patients remain actively engaged throughout their care journey. Plus, they help to identify potential risks or complications early on, allowing for timely interventions and risk mitigation efforts. In addition to providing patient support, our Nurse Navigators also collect data across the entire episode of care. This data provides valuable insights into individual and collective patient outcomes, enabling surgeons, ASCs, and the program to make data-driven decisions while maintaining the highest quality of care. Reach out to learn more about how our #Muve program can help enhance experiences and outcomes for patients at your ASC: https://bit.ly/4aUFKYB. #valuebasedcare #ASC #surgerycenter #patientcare #healthcare
