Inclusive Marketing Expert & Consultant 👋🏾 | Supporting Brand Leaders in Creating Impactful and Inclusive Work via My Consultancy, Backstory 🤝 | 10+ Years of Inclusive Marketing & Storytelling ✨
This is what *equitable* partnership looks like.
I’ve long been a fan of the work Evelynn Escobar has done with Hike Clerb Inc, and their upcoming collaboration with The North Face is the perfect example of an industry great teaming up with an impact organization to let them create on *their* terms.
Many of our brand clients at Backstory Consulting come to us looking for ways they can equitably support the work of non-profits and charitable organizations.
Doing so requires a special mix of thought, strategy, and intention that’s hard for most brands and companies to do on their own.
💡 We always recommend starting with:
1. Identifying 3-5 causes you can responsibly and sustainably support
2. Identifying organizations and non-profits already doing great work in that space
3. Partnering with an impact agency or consultancy (👋🏾) to develop an equitable outreach strategy
Please support the amazing work Hike Clerb Inc is doing, and this forthcoming collaboration!
Impact matters.

🎶 I get by with a little kelp from my friends...
The #KelpForestChallenge is seeing people, governments and organisations around the world stepping in to help kelp
🌿 South Korea has committed to restoring 54,000 hectares of sea forest by 2030. The restoration process involves installing eco-friendly spore bags and attaching pre-grown seaweed to natural bedrocks.
🌿 Washington State has pledged to conserve and restore over 4,000 hectares of kelp and seagrass by 2040. A key part of the plan is to bring together local Indigenous tribes, community members and local nonprofit orgs in the restoration efforts.
🌿 In Portugal, a municipality is trialling a kelp-seeding technique along the coast of Cascais. The process involves seeding pebbles with kelp in a lab. The seedlings are then released to settle on the underlying bedrock to grow and create new patches of kelp forest. If successful, this technique could be used for other kelp-seeding and restoration projects around the world.

"Civil society organisations are unique partners in their capacity to represent, empower and defend local populations. On World NGO Day, we recognise and celebrate all non-governmental and nonprofit organisations, the people behind them, and the valuable contribution they make to society." - EU Partnerships
We couldn't agree more! CEPF was formed to champion #biodiversity by delivering the financial resources of global donors to civil society groups, who then carry out the conservation work themselves. Enabling civil society organizations to participate in, and influence, the conservation of the world's biodiversity hotspots is the hallmark of CEPF's approach.

It's heart-warming to have witnessed our associates from across South Africa in action as they rolled-up their sleeves and volunteered their time as part of various Mandela Day outreach initiatives. These activities included advancing food security, environmental clean-ups and spending time with, and bringing joy to communities. #PepsiCoPositive#MandelaDay#ItIsInYourHands
Happy #WorldEnvironmentDay!
In the Philippines, USAID is working with government and community partners to protect ecosystems critical to sustaining water supply services.
USAID’s assistance, through the Safe Water Activity, enabled roughly 1,400 community members and government officials to plant more than 58,000 indigenous trees in the Bago Watershed in Negros Occidental. USAID is also supporting learning exchanges between indigenous groups to promote best practices for protecting native tree species valued for resin and timber, like the Almaciga, from further degradation. These actions help protect forests and restore damaged ones, which, in turn, help increase the water storage capacity of watersheds that provide water for people, production, and the planet.

In 2022, the world made a bold commitment to protect and conserve at least 30% of land and water globally by 2030.
To help turn this commitment into reality, the Bloomberg Ocean Initiative and Oceana are working to fast-track the creation of new marine protected areas (MPAs) and other conservation measures.
Here are some recent wins on the path to 30x30: https://bloom.bg/3L5bWNY#Philanthropy#ClimateAction
Have you ever taken a risk as an organization? Created a strategy, developed a plan, got buy-in and support, and then hoped it worked?
That's what we are doing. We are pivoting away from an annual Gala and instead hosting an event this fall we are calling ReGreen Minnesota. We are doing this for a reason: to welcome anyone who wants to take conservation action and make a tangible impact on Minnesota's outdoors.
* Instead of tickets priced at over $100 a piece, we are selling them for $40 a person.
* Instead of a fancy, seated affair, we are throwing a casual bash where you don't need to buy a new cocktail dress (unless you want to!).
* Instead of exclusive, we want to be inclusive.
* We'll continue to be informative! From clean water to pollinators, continuous living cover to tree canopies, volunteer events to goats: we'll share what Great River Greening is doing to make an immediate and positive impact on Minnesota's land, for the benefit of people, plants, wildlife, soil and water.
Join us and let's ReGreen Minnesota together. #regreen
