Juneteenth derives its name from June 19, 1865, when U.S. General Gordon Granger informed the enslaved individuals of Galveston, Texas, that they were officially free. Two-and-a-half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation, Granger’s decree marked the end of slavery in Confederate states. Established in 2020, on the Juneteenth holiday, Black Resilience in Colorado Fund is more than a fund. It is a movement for change to address systematic racism and inequities that negatively impact Black communities throughout Colorado and beyond. Help us pave the path forward. With your support, BRIC can continue to provide resources to Colorado's Black-led and serving nonprofits and build Black communities now and in the future. Become a BRIC Builder TODAY→ https://lnkd.in/g3_vTPmJ **Dollar-for-dollar will be matched up to $50,000 til June 30th** #BRICFundCO #BRICbyBRIC #GivingBlack #BlackPhilanthropy #Juneteenth #BlackHistory #BRICAnniversary #BlackExcellence #BlackPower #Freedom #BlackisBeautiful #LIberation

Non-Profit CEO Dock Ellis Foundation | Advocate | Community Activist | passionate about diversity & social impact
Dear Community and State Representatives, We at the Dock Ellis Foundation are reaching out to highlight a pressing issue that affects the very fabric of our society – the underfunding of organizations dedicated to locating missing persons and supporting minority-focused communities. Every day, we witness the systemic challenges that hinder our efforts to bring awareness to the violence against black and brown individuals. These are not just statistics; they are our brothers, sisters, parents, and children whose stories are often left untold, whose voices are unheard. The lack of adequate funding severely limits our ability to operate and advocate for those who are most vulnerable. It's a struggle to shine a light on the marginalized when the resources we need are just beyond our reach. We call upon our state representative, [Tag State Representative], to champion this cause. We need leaders who will fight for systemic change, ensuring that all organizations like ours have the necessary support to continue our vital work. Our voices matter. Every person deserves to feel valued, seen, and heard. It's time for action, for commitment, and for solidarity. Let's work together to ensure that adequate funding is allocated to continue the work that honors the dignity of every individual. With hope and determination, The Dock Ellis Foundation #OurVoicesMatter #FundOurFight #SystemicChange

On this Juneteenth, ChangeTheWealth.org commemorates the day in 1865, when freedom finally reached all enslaved African Americans. This day marks a critical moment in the fight for equality. Since that day, however, significant obstacles have continued to prevent wealth-building in Black communities. Promises of reparations like '40 Acres and a Mule' were broken….the Freedman's Bank, established to help freed slaves build financial security, failed and left many in financial ruin….and the more recent practice of Redlining systematically denied Black families the opportunity to own homes and build generational wealth. As we honor the past, ChangeTheWealth.org is dedicated to addressing these injustices and fostering economic empowerment for a more equitable future. Together, let’s continue the journey towards true economic freedom and justice for all. Together, let’s Change the Wealth! #Juneteenth #EconomicEmpowerment #ChangeTheWealth

During Black History Month, we must think deeply about the role of the Black church as one of the few remaining anchor institutions in the Black community. Considering the impacts of the #climatecrisis, the Black church can lead on this issue. 📽 Watch our exclusive short video on how "Philanthropy and the Black Church" can take the lead on climate crisis response for the marginalized. As Rev. Jon Robinson, Smart Surfaces Coalition & Metropolitan AME Church Sr. Program Director notes: "The reason these communities are in the situation that they're in is because of public policy." So: how do we begin to reverse and dismantle that public policy? 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eNCvsY7v
