116km ran in 72 hours - 6.5km every 4 hours for 72 hours - 18 runs in total €6,757 raised for Irish Cancer Society Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone that donated to the ultimate running challenge. Cancer affects thousands of families in Ireland including my own and I understand how difficult it can be for families. I got a lot of messages from people acknowledging what I was doing & that it was very close to their hearts too. It was fantastic to get these messages from people and it pushed me to keep going! Secondly, I want to say a big shout out to everyone that joined me on the runs, the support was fantastic. 15 of the 18 runs I had people running with me which just shows how much support there was and I’m very grateful for it! Lastly, I set out this crazy challenge not knowing what to expect really, finished it and still felt I had more to give. It made me realised exactly how far I can push myself and what my body is capable of. I find myself coming across people every day who have completed challenges that seem impossible. People continue to amaze me and it pushes me to challenge myself even more and see what we can do because believe me, you are capable of doing so much more than you know! What I’m trying to say, challenge yours by as much as possible! Get out of your comfort zone and do something that might seem impossible or makes you feel uncomfortable! We strive and become better when we challenge ourselves to do something hard and uncomfortable. You will suffer and it won’t be easy but let me tell you it’s very rewarding when you’ve done it! It could be running your first 5km, first marathon, joining a sports club, or learning a new skill. It might not go to plan the first time, but just remember everybody fails in life even the most successful people. The main thing is to never stop trying. Don’t give up, stay strong, believe in yourself and try again! Most importantly enjoy the ride because it’s some experience on the journey and extremely rewarding when you get there! #running #challenge #irishcancersociety #4x4x72 #dublin #runningmotivation #4x4x48challenge #marathon #charity

Across the next 8 months I’m raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK and have set myself a number of different running challenges to complete 🏃 Why am I doing it? I’m raising funds as my Dad had prostate cancer. Fortunately, he’s one of the lucky men that the cancer was picked up early in and he was able to get ahead of the game before it started to spread. Lots of men aren’t this lucky. This is why it’s so important for men over 45 to get their prostate checked! I want to help raise awareness and funds to support this important message 🗣️ What are my challenges? 1: Run 10K everyday in October ‘23 as part of the Prostate United fundraising effort. I’ve done this for the past two years and it’s not easy. I’d like to run a sub 40 10K as part of this challenge ✅ 2: Beat my 10K PB. Currently sat at 39.12, I am going to build up to entering a 10K race in February ‘24 and aim to go sub 39 mins. The October 10K everyday challenge will be great training for this ✅ 3. Beat my Half Marathon PB. Currently sat at 1:25.40. Looking to enter a Half Marathon in March ‘24 and go sub 1:25 ✅ 4. The challenge then culminates in April ‘24 in one of the best running races in the 🌎, the London Marathon! Can’t wait to run this one and will be looking to beat my current marathon PB of 3:22.27. If I really nail it, going sub 3:05 would class me as “Good for age entry” and would guarantee me a place for the 2025 London Marathon ✅ That’s the plan! Any donations for Prostate Cancer UK would be hugely appreciated and I can’t thank anyone who donates enough for their support 🙏 JustGiving - https://lnkd.in/ed5Rvfmg Expect a few more 👍 photos on here over the coming months 🤣 Lots of training ahead 📈 Strava - https://lnkd.in/eR7YzeHB #runner #running #fundraising #charity #prostatecancer #prostatecancerawareness #londonmarathon #londonmarathontraining #fitness #health #halfmarathon #10k

Thank you Apogee Corporation for the recognition in regards to my latest ultra achievement! Those were some hard earned miles, all being added to the grand total we are pushing towards! I think they should probably count for at least double against any spin bike miles 😉 If you haven't donated yet, anything you can spare will make a huge difference to such a worthwhile cause. ( link in my previous post)
Team Apogee have travelled 26,360km since the start of August, raising £4699 for Teens Unite Fighting Cancer! As we approach the final stretch, we want to shine a spotlight on Tom Banks, who recently completed the GB Ultra Snowdonia 50 mile race - coming a respectable 22nd out of 249 entrants! Well done Tom! 🏃Help me Reach My Running Goal and Support a Cause!🏃 Some of you know that last December, I embarked on a journey to become fitter through running, and it has become a passion for me. In just over three weeks [Edit: It's just over 7 weeks, not 3 - I can't read calendars], I'll be running the 10km course at the Sydney Marathon, aiming to achieve a personal goal: completing a 10km race in under 50 minutes. My best official time so far has been 54:20 (set at Runaway Sydney in May), but I'm working hard to knock those last few minutes off my time. Here's where I need your help. I'm currently only about 40% confident that I'll reach my goal. To motivate myself even further, I decided to make this race more meaningful by raising money for the Children's Cancer Institute. I don't have a firm fundraising target yet, but I've created a fundraising page knowing that every little bit helps. Be the first to donate, and you will boost my confidence to 50%! Edit: We got our first donation in mere minutes! Let's see how long it takes us to get to $500 so I can be 60% confident in my running goal! https://lnkd.in/gazd8ZhH Not only will you be boosting my confidence in achieving my running goal, but you'll also be helping the Children's Cancer Institute achieve their own vision of saving the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health, through research What time do you think I'll run? How much do you think we'll raise for charity together?

🏅 Top (1̶0̶%̶) 5% on JustGiving!! 📧 3 Months ago I got an email to say I was in the top 10% of fundraisers on JustGiving. Yesterday, I got one to say I'm now top 5% 🤯 🙏 I'm extremely grateful for everybody who has donated so far, with 4 more weeks to go till fight night - things are starting to get intense. ⭐ So to think of the journey and the achievements so far: ✅ Within 5 days we have managed to smash the target of £500 and achieve a 293% uptick. ✅ Elaine and My story were published in the local newspaper. ✅ Over 80+ generous people donated ✅ 373% achieved so far - that's £1868 for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) (Some personal goals of mine from dedicating my mind to the boxing) 💪 Dropped weight from 83KG to 77KG 🍺 Cut out drinking 🚬 Stopped smoking (this has been hard) 🤸♂️ Fittest I've ever been. 🧠 I'm hoping with this dedication and the brilliant team at Salford Striking Academy, the result goes our way. 👊 If my arm gets lifted on the 9th of December, that's not just my arm being lifted - it's for anyone who's suffered the impact of Cancer, that's for Elaine, your friends, your family. We win together. F*ck Cancer #cancerresearch #charity #network #cancerawareness

Recruitment Manager at Unleash & Engage | Unleashing the potential in people through engagement | Operational excellence specialist
In preparation for my marathon next year and to celebrate coming to the end of my Couch to 5K plan… I decided to take on the challenge of running my first ever 10k (gulp) but I have chosen to do it for charity in this year's Race for Life, which is happening next week! 🏃♂️💪 Training for this has been a lot tougher than I imagined, I’ve faced two injuries and been very close to quitting more times than I’d like to admit. 😑 But I'm determined to keep going, and I'm more motivated than ever to cross that finish line. 🏁 Here are a few things I've learned along the way: ⏰ Patience is key: Progress takes time, and rushing often leads to setbacks. 🧘♀️Listen to your body: It's crucial to rest and recover, even when you feel like pushing through. (I particularly struggled with this!) 💪🏽 Mental strength matters: Staying positive and focused can make all the difference. 🏽 Support systems: Friends and family cheering you on is incredibly important and so motivating. 📈Consistency is crucial: Small, consistent efforts build up to big results over time. 😒 Everyone has bad days: Just like bad days at work, or in the gym – you can have an off day when it comes to running too but what's important is to get back up and keep moving forward. 😍 Runner's high is real: Those moments of euphoria after a good run make all the struggles worth it! I've reached 45% of my fundraising goal of £200, and I'd be incredibly grateful for any support. 🥰 Every little bit helps and goes towards a great cause. If you can, please consider donating and follow the link below. 🩷 https://lnkd.in/e-rczPBJ Thank you so much! 9 days to go 😆

On Saturday, November 4th, 2023, from 9 am, our CEO, Meg, will complete 24 hours of bag work at The Agoge Boxing Gym in Myaree to raise awareness (and hopefully funds) for pancreatic, gastro-intestinal and rare cancers and WARPNINE. Each round is 3 minutes long, with a minute’s rest in between. EG - 1 ROUND = 3 MINUTES +1 MINUTE REST = 4 MINUTES TOTAL 15 ROUNDS = 60 MINUTES (1 HOUR) 90 ROUNDS = 360 MINUTES (6 HOURS) 180 ROUNDS = 720 MINUTES (12 HOURS) 360 ROUNDS = 1,440 MINUTES (24 HOURS) The mantra at Agoge, ‘Molon labe`, is a classical Greek expression of defiance. According to the Greek Platonist Plutarch, Leonidas responded with this phrase when Xerxes demanded the Spartans surrender their weapons. “The resilience shown by those diagnosed with these under-researched and underfunded malignancies is nothing short of remarkable. I am inspired by their strength and total defiance to accept what is often a devastating prognosis. This is a personal challenge to push me out of my comfort zone both physically and mentally. Those diagnosed with cancer do not get to choose their challenge; it is forced upon them, so if I can challenge myself and do some good for others, why not!” said Meg. All funds raised will go to WARPNINE, helping them fund patient-focused clinical trials and projects directly benefiting patients right here in WA. To donate, please click here: https://bit.ly/45BePym If you would like to know more about how you can get involved, please get in touch with Meg on 0406 818 810 or at meg@warpnine.org.au
