Today, January 4th, holds special significance as World Braille Day 2024 unfolds. Braille, recognized as a sophisticated method of reading and communication, serves as a symbol of hope for individuals facing visual impairments or dealing with the challenges of limited vision. On this notable occasion, we reflect on the profound importance of commemorating the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the visionary behind this indispensable system. The global community, with unanimous acknowledgment, pays sincere homage to Braille on World Braille Day, emphasizing the enduring importance of this tactile script in fostering awareness among the general public. The primary objective of dedicating World Braille Day to scrutiny is to underscore the widespread acknowledgment of the Braille method. Even in the contemporary era, the omission of Braille format integration by institutions such as banks, hospitals, and restaurants is a matter of concern. This neglect, along with the apparent lack of encouragement, denies individuals facing visual impairment rightful access to information, perpetuating barriers that should have been dismantled by now. In the face of this ongoing challenge, a heartfelt wish is extended for a Happy Braille Day! #WorldBrailleDay #Inclusion #Accessibility #BrailleAwareness

Favorite team exercise to do at the beginning of the month: Create a list of all the wins (big and small) of the previous month. Before discussing any goals for August, appreciate your team for all the good things in July. Celebrating your achievements is a way to fast-track your success. This helps show your brain and your team you can accomplish great things. Here’s to a great start in August! 🚀

This Pride Month, every company wants you to think they're inclusive. But have you ever tried to actually *implement* a DEI program at a company? These folks have, and they're sharing the ups and downs, the wins and pitfalls, the good, the bad, and the rainbow-logo-ugly. The facilitator of this panel is one of my oldest friends, and someone who thinks deeply about diversity, equity, and inclusion every single day. She's a DEI trainer, a CEO, and a thoughtful human being with lived experiences that make this very close to her heart. She's gathered a panel of people who have put in the work to implement DEI programs at their companies and have a wealth of experience in actually making this happen. It's not an easy process, and it's not as simple as making your logo a rainbow for Pride Month or posting a black square in support of Black Lives Matter. It's also not a set-it-and-forget-it project. Learn from those who have been there about how to make the most of the process and implement a program that truly has an impact.
Is your workplace growing stagnant in their DEI efforts? Does your leadership need a lil nudge from their industry peers? Are you personally curious about what these folks have to say about the state of DEI in Colorado? Serving the tea, we've got: - Jill Corbin from Colorado Tourism Office - Heather Disney Dugan from Colorado Parks and Wildlife -Jackie Miller from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) - Philip C. Sneed from Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. - Melissa Akie Wiley from Town of Erie Co-Facilitator: The one, the only-- Parker McMullen Bushman Learn more about this event and buy your tickets today (they're going fast) at www.CrystalEgli.com. (Psst! Bonus points if you invite your boss.)
