I can confidently say that Liquidity Summit led by Jason Calacanis and the LAUNCH team has been the "BEST" summit I’ve ever attended. It was a remarkable experience to spend three meaningful days with a small group of investors (GPs, LPs, Angels, Institutions…, etc.) with different theses, approaches, and backgrounds. I’ll apply my 3x3 framework™ with slightly different categories because this organization deserves one: ✨ Top 3 Differentiators - Community-Driven: "Putting the community" first is not an easy task for events. At the #LiquiditySummit, attendees exchanged thoughts, theses, and opinions in an authentic way rather than pitching and selling with the transactional approaches that are widely commercialized at many other summits and events. - Leadership Presence: Jason Calacanis set the tone at the beginning with guiding principles coupled with a clear vision and "led" by example throughout the event. This level of leadership presence and ownership is hard to come by. - Coordination and Curation: One thing I’d like to say about the whole LAUNCH team - BRAVO 👏 . The team managed many moving parts so smoothly, genuinely, and professionally. Kudos to Michael Savino and Jamie Calacanis for their curation of restaurants, which amplified every conversation throughout the week. 📝 Top 3 Sessions with Takeaways: All were great in their own ways, but given the 3x3 framework ordinances, I need to pick three (without sharing any confidential data) - Ibrahim Ajami, Mubadala Capital: The qualitative aspect of investing - a great highlight of building relationships and remaining humble in the venture, addressing the significance of resiliency, sticking to a core strategy, and committing to long-term goals. - Jason Shuman, Primary Venture Partners: The quantitative aspect of investing — Data-driven thesis to unlock venture capital success. Great funds hit home runs more often than good funds, emphasizing the importance of conviction, concentration, and portfolio construction. - Michael Downing, MDSV Capital: Challenging conventional wisdom - Great insights for the emerging fund managers, the most overlooked and underrated category in venture capital. - Bonus: Monique Woodard, Cake Ventures: Thanks for busting myths and sharing the tears, blood, and sweat of emerging fund managers. 🎬 Top 3 Highlights - Poker (Say no more :)): Verdict - Poker is the golf of the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Great to play with y'all - Ben Bullock, Blaise Stevens, Johnny Betancourt, Martin Tobias, Martin Jacobson, Zach Coelius, Jason Calacanis, David Friedberg, Michael Sobel - Getting Together with Alum: One of the greatest joys of being a University of California, Berkeley alum is the incredible network. Great to reconnect with Chon Tang, Tracy Fong, Alex Chang. Go Bears! - Live All-In Podcast: Experiencing my favorite podcast live, with diverse views and contrarian opinions, was a great cherry on the cake. #LiquiditySummit #VentureCapital #Startups #AI
