Late last year we continued our journey towards LGBTQ+ inclusion with the establishment of a new employee network. HI-VIS (Highlighting Inclusion and Diversity on Infrastructure Sites) is an employee-led initiative established to provide support and resources and promote LGBTQ+ inclusion and engagement in our work environments. Led by Co-Chairs Nathan Mete and Mitch Jones, with Dr James Glastonbury as our Executive Sponsor, we are committed to playing a role in proactively sponsoring greater inclusion for our LGBTQ+ community. An important part of this journey is becoming a member of Pride in Diversity, a not-for-profit employer support program for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion specialising in HR, organisational change and workplace diversity. Pride in Diversity publishes the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI), Australia’s national benchmarking instrument for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion from which Top Employers for LGBTQ+ people is determined. Recognising and embracing diversity and inclusion in the workplace isn’t just a moral imperative; it's a strategic necessity. Not only can the elevation of diverse perspectives fuel innovation, creativity and act as core drivers of our collective success – it’s also the right thing to do.
