They need to think on their feet because in their daily work they have to integrate various processes into a working whole. Systems engineers are involved in systems from the rides at Disneyland to the operating rooms at hospitals. Systems Engineering is a field of engineering which is cross-disciplinary. It cuts across the fields of engineering, technology, biology, chemistry, and even business processes. The field deals with the building, designing, planning, and integration of systems or components. Systems engineers help different parts of the organization blend efficiently. For this, they need strong management and leadership skills. They monitor and ensure that systems are up and running. Systems engineering is a multidisciplinary technique to solve problems. Systems engineers look at organizations as a whole, rather than a set of independent parts. Basically, they consider the interconnections between departments. Commissioning Tags and Colours in Data Center construction Colored tags are installed to visually indicate components and a system’s commissioned status during a project’s construction and commissioning phases. They will be installed after each ‘Level’ has been completed and verified by the Owners Commissioning Manager. Red Tag 🟥 [Level 1] The red tag is placed on each piece of equipment completed and passed level 1 factory testing and QA QC checks. This indicates that the equipment meets the required standards and has been approved for installation and integration into the data center’s infrastructure. delivered to site, positioning and anchored. Yellow Tag 🟨 [Level 2] At level 2, the yellow tag is used to signify the completion of component delivery, installation, and pre-startup activities. Once all Level 2 works are completed with the tag in place, Level 3 works can commence. Green Tag 🟩 [Level 3] The green tag represents level 3 commissioning. The data center enters the pre-commissioning and pre-functional energization and systems startup phase at this stage. The green tag signifies that all the components and systems are successfully checked, energized, and started up, ready for further testing and validation at Level 4. Blue Tag 🟦 [Level 4] The blue tag is attached after the Level 4 functional testing works have been completed on the equipment and associated systems. During this phase, various systems and equipment are subjected to rigorous testing scenarios to assess their performance, functionality, and compatibility within the data center environment before the Level 5 works commence. White Tag ⬜ [Level 5] After completing the Integrated Systems Testing, a white tag will be installed on the equipment. This is the final functional testing stage integrating all systems as one, before moving to the handover/turnover stage of the process. once the IST completed the data center is proceeding to the Ready for service phase.

In Data Center (DC) projects, hiring a competent Commissioning manager at the early stages (Design stage) is paramount to ensure a smooth and successful project completion. Understanding the diferent commissioning levels of DC projects takes us to the conclusion that this also applies to the Quality manager, moreover the way these two managers interact and communicate it is probability the most important factor to ensure the DC successful completion. DC Commissioning levels are: Level 0: Design stage Level 1: Factory Acceptance, Witness Testing & Inspections Level 2: Delivery, Installation Verification (QA/QC) & Static Testing Level 3: Start-up & Pre-functional Testing Level 4: Functional & Performance Testing (SAT) Level 5: Integrated Systems Testing (IST) Level 6: Transition Phase (training & documentation) The above levels can be grouped in the following phases: * Design Phase (Levels 0 & 1) * Construction Phase (Levels 2 & 3) * Acceptance Phase (Levels 4 & 5) * Transition Phase (Level 6) The above listed inspections & tests MUST be included in Inspection & Test Plans (ITP's) which implementation should be ensured by the Quality manager. Time has come for all stakeholders involved in DC projects to understand that having a competent Commissioning manager/ Quality manager team on board its of the utmost importance to ensure a smooth and successful deliver of DC projects.

Their broad geographic distribution minimizes latency and ensures faster data processing, essential for real-time applications.
