It was great to hear our Global Sourcing & Supply Chain interns talk about what projects they participated in, how they enriched these projects with their existing knowledge, what they learned from us, and how it reinforced their future plans. Thrilled to share that Friday marked the last day of my internship at Jabil. Ten life-changing weeks that made me fall even more in love with the career I chose. I had the opportunity to learn and practice supply-chain operations, manufacturing planning, purchasing and inventory control. I witnessed my voice traveling further than ever before, as I was able to interact with colleagues around Jabil's 5 Global Regions - promoting a millionaire positive impact in our operations through my actions. I have worked in 4 differents projects that demanded a diverse skill set - going over activities such as automation, prompting, MRP management, data science, design, analytics, and more. As well as to visit 4 different sites in person! My main takeaway is that - as long as I stay loyal to my core and values while doing my best in the present - everything else will come into place. I could not appreciate my team more for all the care and support. Today wraps up an enlightening 12-week internship with #IBM in RTP, North Carolina. As a Direct Procurement intern, I’ve gained invaluable insights and had the privilege of working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. From understanding the intricate processes of supplier relationships, to hands-on experience with procurement tools and software, this summer has been a deep dive into the world of procurement. Three key takeaways that I'll carry with me: Networking 🕸️👥: The importance of building and nurturing relationships, not just within the team but across functions, became abundantly clear. The collaborations and interactions I've had have been instrumental in shaping my perspective. Embracing Innovation 📞📲: In an ever-evolving field like procurement, staying ahead of the curve by embracing new tools, technologies, and methodologies is crucial. Witnessing and being a part of IBM's innovative approach was truly inspiring. Continuous Learning 👨🏽💻👨🏽🏫: Every day presented new challenges and learning opportunities. I truly appreciate how IBM fostered an environment conducive for learning. It reinforced my belief that in the professional world, one's learning journey never truly ends. Students are examining existing #supplierrelationships and identifying which spends can be streamlined for more effective coordination and leverage by the company. Live proof of - Whatever happens, happens for a reason! 2.5 years back, when I was persuing my masters, I had no idea what ‘Procurement Consulting’ meant. Randomly applied to a company for summer internship only because it was the ‘First company’, liked the people & decided to sit for the company. Fortunately got shortlisted, got a PPO, worked on multiple projects. Someone who has been quiet pro-active in trying out various projects/industries, I finally got my niche! Marketing Consulting is what excited me the most! I was fortunate to work with verious Fortune 500 clients which gave me immense exposure to finally boil down to my interest. In procurement, I still don’t see a lot of women specially in the leadership, but I am sure things are improving every single day. Just a reminder: If you are someone who has no idea why you joined a certain company, give it time. I’m sure in a few months you will find your niche! Nayab is part of the HPE Storage HR team where she supports Senior Business Partners and interacts with COEs. Her goal is to make work more efficient.
