This robot puts on a Nike shoe! 👟 We rarely see apps that focus on the robot's legs. Researchers from Stanford University have developed a system that enables humanoid robots to learn complex skills from human data. The system employs a low-level policy trained in simulation using existing human motion datasets, which can then be transferred to real-world humanoid robots. Through a process called "shadowing," humanoid robots can mimic human body and hand movements in real-time using only RGB camera input, allowing for efficient data collection for various tasks. The collected data is used to train skill policies via supervised behavior cloning, enabling humanoids to autonomously perform tasks by imitating human skills through egocentric vision. The system's effectiveness was demonstrated on a 33-DoF, 180cm humanoid robot (Unitree Robotics, H1 robot), which successfully completed diverse tasks such as wearing shoes, unloading objects, and typing with high success rates using up to 40 demonstrations per task. Congrats on that project, Zipeng Fu and team! 🦾 ~~~ ♻️ Repost to help 1 robot find a new workplace. 📬 Pssst, when you are done with this video - join +12,502 robotics & AI passionates in my newsletter: https://lnkd.in/dzVGBKSc
I’m getting to the age where I need one to cut my toenails. 🤪
I'm so scared I'm not scared.
There are getting better
Wow! That's impressive! Thanks for sharing!
Zipeng Fu did a great job!
Wow, robots learning to wear shoes? That's pretty cool!
I must say that I am immensely curious about all these attempts to make machines resemble humans, dogs, etc. What is the added value of such a direction in technology development? Are we not satisfied with airplanes, though they do not flap their wings and pretend to be birds? The resources allocated to ever more sophisticated human mimicry could be much better utilized. Not to mention, the likely cost of achieving even close to the motor skills of a biological entity will probably far exceed the value of, say, the Webb Telescope. To me, it's a waste of money...
Rise of Robots...!!! Worried about safety of human species in future. Definitely, robots are going to be the most advanced machines on the the planet earth. Smart robots have AI algorithms integrated into them, enabling them to work on their own after a previous phase of training or automatic learning. Also, the artificial neurons may be integrated into the robots making them to become conscious.
