“As a woman in business, you’re taught that being vulnerable might make you look weak.” Above is a quote from Casey Foss, Chief Commercial Officer at West Monroe. It’s from an insightful article by Esther Choy that discusses the importance and influence of storytelling when investing in women leaders.  Foss mentions how she would avoid sharing personal experiences; fearing it would hold back her career. However, it was preventing her from mentoring other women in her office. #WomenInLeadership perfectly reflects my own experiences and beliefs. By combining mentoring with the power of narration, we can significantly impact the growth and development of women who aspire to leadership roles. Painting a picture and sharing experiences, obstacles, and triumphs is a powerful tool for guiding women leaders. They're not just rules to follow but relatable narratives that inspire, engage, and infuse confidence – making a remarkable difference in how women navigate their leadership journey. As an advocate for progressive and diverse leadership, I passionately believe in nurturing an environment that encourages success – where personal anecdotes become powerful tools for growth and women are recognized for their work and the unique life stories that define their leadership styles. When I coach women in #senior #leadership positions, I am always amazed at the #inner #obstacles they face. While women have made significant steps in assuming leadership roles in today's changing business landscape, they still face unique challenges, many of which are internal obstacles that do not make their lives as female leaders any easier. This does not preclude men in leadership positions from facing similar obstacles, but in my experience, their challenges are somewhat different in more senior positions. Reflecting on these “female” coaching sessions, I came up with only some of the obstacles that many had in common. Overcoming inner obstacles on the path to #women's #leadership is a continuous journey. In my experience the training of #selfawareness and #selfregulation of our inner states is a very first step that goes into the right direction but also the ability to #letgo, to let go of too much #perfectionism, of #expectations that are unrealistic, and to truly embody one's own ideas of female leadership and strive less for external comparison. No one was ever born a leader Or were they? Can you give an answer? Can leadership traits be inherited or learnt? Leadership has been one of the hardest yet fun thing I have gone through for years. From a very young age of 12 even until now, I have found myself in the shoe of a leader. But, I find it rewarding because leadership gives you the room to: - Set an example for others thus inspiring them - Be genuinely involved in the lives of people - Make quick decisions without procrastinating - Develop talents and skills in others There are so many benefits of being a leader, and it is rewarding when you are not simply a leader because of your personal gains, but simply to impact a generation and community.
