💻 𝙎𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 – 𝘼𝙄 𝙞𝙣 .𝙉𝙀𝙏 💻 AI and all its advantages (or disadvantages depending on how you look at it) have been a big focus in development. With every language seeing how they can utilise it to further improve its functionality and performance. The creator of Blazor, Steve Sanderson, has been playing around with ‘Smart Components’ which is a new feature that combines all the benefits of NLP and Machine Learning. This feature can be easily added to existing apps and has already been shown to work with ASP.NET 6.0 onwards with it soon to be functional with Blazor and Razor Pages. This should be able to massively cut down time spent redesigning the UX and prompt engineering so the AI benefits can immediately improve existing UIs and making the overall product more efficient for users. My team has been practicing a new principle which we call "Building AI with AI". In the video I am sharing, I give a demo about how I was able to cut down my cycle time on creating a new feature inside an AI agent we are in the process of building. A few key takeaways... * If you believe AI is going to change the game, you have to live it in everything you do * AI coding assistants and their semantic similar search features perform MUCH better at creating code related to LLMs when there are core abstractions and patterns which they can reference inside your own code base * When you are creating an AI agent, you must treat the software development process of creating this agent like any other software. If you do this, you will be able to harness the power of AI assisted programming * Using Cursor as an IDE has been able to improve my productivity much more than the other AI coding assistants available on the market today * Having an observability framework native to your agent projects saves you hours of debugging hassle compared to looking through logs Stay tuned in for more updates soon... #BuildAIwithAI

Additionally, there have been regular recommendations on excellent platforms that are usually releasing new AI powered features. That is heavily evident today with Eraser and it's new (another) CoPilot for techinal design diagrams. So, I have been loving Whimsical and editing process charts via #ChatGPT, and this looks like the excellent upgrade that #engineering and #dev teams will absolutely love. From a startup or SMB perspective, you pool the above tools with Whale (usewhale.io) and now you have a SOP + Process dynamic stack! Showcase in #GitHub or #Loop and call it a day. All Math problems are not statistical in nature. If it were, there wouldn't be arithmetic, algebra and calculus. Same way, we must pick and choose tools and avoid tendency to force fit AI into every software problem. Example. Template engines have worked well for things like cicd pipelines, iac, different types of manifest files, starterkits etc. While this approach still works, now we can also use generative AI or coding assistants to generate these with prompts. If you decide to use an AI assistant for this type of work, here are some things to keep in mind. AI generated code is development-ready, not production-ready. It needs to go through all quality gate checks before you put it live. On the other hand, template engines and their output can be pretested to a large extent. This is because template engines tend to be homegrown. Because you know and can control when it changes, you can ensure a proper regression testing before its next run. In short, treat AI assistant like an external API for developer productivity improvement. Ensure the code it generates is tested like new code - every single time you generate fresh code. Because like any system, AI code assistants can misfire or be hacked and you must have countermeasures in place. Bottomline. Use AI and AI assists; just make sure you pick the right usecase. #ai-code #generative-ai #ai-assistant

Another example of AI being able to increase efficiencies in a process. Though some might fear the replacement of Software Engineers, Designers, etc, I feel it will only allow them to use their skills they already posses to achieve more in less amount of time. Applying skills and logic to the diagram/template of how software should be architected, then having the shell coded and developed for you allows the human counterpart to have oversight and adjust as necessary without having to build from scratch. #AI #Softwaredevelopment
